  2. Hi All Just thought I would let you know that I had the battery replaced on Wednesday night and everything has been fine since. Thanks for everyone's help. Spencer
  3. So what do you think is the problem? Surely if the RAC guys say it's charging then the battery is fine. So is it the alternator? Spencer
  4. Hi All I recently had the front brakes on my zed replaced and when I went to pick up the car she wouldn’t start. The garage was shut and it was late a night with no one around so I called the RAC. He said that the battery was dead and jump started it for me with no problem first time. He stated that the battery was charging ok, but suggested that I drove the car for an hour or so and that would charge it up. I did that and when I got home I turned off the car and then tried to restart her again and she started with no problems. Next day I went out and she was dead again. I used my mate’s car to jump start her (she’s an automatic so no pushing involved here) and again she started first time. Drove her around for a bit again and stopped at the garage to buy petrol and she started first time again. Next day she was dead again. Someone suggested that it might be the alternator so I jump started her again and drove her for two hours. When I got home disconnected the negative lead and hoped that she would start the next day. Next morning I reconnected the lead and she started first time. I have been doing this for a few days now, but this morning the last couple of days she didn’t start again. Sorry about the long story, but I thought I would give you all the facts lol Any ideas???? Spencer
  5. I never go anywhere near the expansion bottle, I just check the water level in the rad. It went for an MOT recently, so myabe the add in some water. What is the expansion bottle for anyway? Spencer
  6. Hi Guys I appear to be dripping a liquid from the front near side just infront of the wheel arch. It appears to be clear and doesn't smell. I haven't used the aircon and the radiator water level stays contant. I've had the front brakes done - new discs n pads, but the liquid is not around the wheel and brakes are fine. Any ideas??? I can post photos is someone tells me how to. Spencer
  7. So are they the same as UK one's?????? Spencer
  8. Hi Guys I have a Fairlady and I need to replace the discs and pads on all four corners. The problem is that no-one can get me a price as they say the rear discs aren't listed. Are they the same as the UK disc and pads or are they a different size? If they are different can someone suggest where I can get them from? Better still can someone suggest a good/value for money garage that will do it for me. Oh by the way I am based in surrey. Thanks Spencer
  9. Yeah that's the baby.
  10. Hi Guys Can someone remind me of the link to the page that discribes the different types of zed. Want to find out if mine is a Z28 or Z32???? If that's the correct termanology. It's a 1989 and has the seatbelts fixed to the door Spencer

  13. Hi Guys I'm driving down the motorway in my automatic twin turbo and she is cruising at about 3,500, then all of a sudden without warning she will increase revs to 4,500 but she doesn't get any faster. After a few mins she returns to normal and the does it again. Oh and I have had a new/old engine put in recently, don;t know if that piece of info is a help or not. Any thoughts????? :headvswal Spencer

  18. Hi Should you top up the expansion tank? Surely the point of it is that water expanding from the rad does this? And then sucks it back again when it cools. Spencer
  19. Sorry that should have been "I like your thinking" Spencer
  20. He he he I don't know if it's the fact that you think I haven't blown the HG or the good points you raised in your e-mail, but I think your thinking. Thanks for the advice. Spencer
  21. Ok here is the full story. I drove the car back from Oxford to London. On the way she over heated. I stoped and got towed of the motorway. The guys at the garage said that they could find a problem but they changed the rad cap with another zed sat in the yard as mine was a bit loose. No problems for the rest of the way home. Next weekend I drove to plymouth. She over heated on my four times on the way down. Most of the time I let her cool down before I filled her up, but the last time I took the cap off before she had cooled down and it was like a fountain several feet in the air. I then filled her up with water and went on my way. Oh I was driving during the day, it was hot and I had the AC on. On the way back from Plymouth she didn't over heat once. It was the middle of the night, I had the temp up high, no AC and windows open. Then she over heated on me again on the way to a friends hous about 5 miles away. Again during the day, but no AC on. Last weekend I took of the rad cap and the cap at the other end. I then filled with water. I then screwed in the cap at the other end. Then I started the engine and put the AC on at 40. When the fan cut in the water level dropped. I then filled with water again and put the rad cap on. Drove the car for a while and she was leaking water from the top of the cap. Like I said there is a groove in the plastic and the cap pops into it and I think that there is a gap where the water comes from. But am I correct is saying that the water shouldn't expand and only if there was air in it then it would expand? Anyway today I took of the cap, used plyers and squeezed the cap tighter. I filled the car using the same procedure as before, but didn't put the cap on at the other end until the fan kicked in. All that appeared to happen was the water kept coming out the other cap end. I screwed the cap back in and the water level remained constant. So I put the rad cap back on. I then went to the rear and there was a lot of water in the pipes and there was smoke come out which I think was actually steam. Does this mean I have blown the head gasket? Does anybody live near Kingston and have the correct equipemtn to check to see if I have blown the HG. Don't you just put a pump where you put in the oil and check the pressure? Anybody. I have been trying to get in touch with Zen Garage, but I think they must be really busy. Anybody................ help. Spencer
  22. Do they have them in stock, or will I have to wait weeks?
