  1. I think that could more of an indication of poor health and safety enforcement, maybe due to Government cuts:mad: Than an indication of the involvement of those persons to a hazardous environment! Before I joined the brigade I have done a bit of labouring and have seen the shortcuts people make to achieve a profit over the safety of the workers and public. Sounds like the Government again! Plus in London alone we seem to have an increase in illegal workers who will do anything from labouring to bouncing at cut rate prices. Something that will always unfortunately increase the accident figures. Mark
  2. Hi Jez, Thanks for the advice, I have asked on TTnet about pistons, Coz at Concept Z was the only person to get back to me. He said the JE pistons can suffer from Piston slap, so that maybe accounts for the noise problem! He also highly recommended Arias Pistons, which we were only a few dollars more. I contacted their website in America and asked how much and if they were flexible with regard to postage:o They then put me in contact with Arias pistons UK, who actually make pistons to your specification in 4-6weeks. Whether they make them for the states or are a subsidairy, I have yet to find out when they recontact me, with a price! Jez why did you go for the 0.5mm overbore as oposed to the 1mm in the end? Mark
  3. Thanks guys the engine is in bits at the mo! I am TT'ing a convertible, I have been told you can get JE or JWT pistons to your spec for around $780! I have also been offered a short engine as well, so things aren't totally bad! Mark
  4. Glad to see you've calmed down a bit Kinace! Yes it has, no convincing needed! The public safety is the government's responsibility, if they don't want a strike then pay us a fair wage, or, make it illegal for us to strike! Our shift system would be e.g. starting on monday at 0900-1800 for two days, then two nights 1800- 0900 the next day, finally finshing at 0900 on fri morning (48 hours in total) followed by three days off! Willie, the firemans pension is a valuable asset, we do pay 15% to it, I don't think a comparison to the private is fair due to the higher wages in the private sector! For instance a 15 year fireman I spoke to had his son start his first job, a junior bank clerk, his son was earning £500 a year more than him! Mark
  5. Thanks guys, I will probably be contacting you at some point in the future about this! Andy, Yes you are right, it is that engine, the piston and bore are still serviceable but Darren doesn't advise putting it back together and using it without a compromise on its capabilities in the future! In other words its F***ED! Does anyone know the Samaritans Number? Mark
  6. Hi:( :( :( :( I think the Title says it all! So what pistons do I get? Where is the cheapest place to get them? How much can I bore the block out and what are the consequences of this? Mark Somebody hide the Rope!
  7. How does a 42 hour week qualify as a part time job, essentially five days on, three days off? If Fire fighters are on great pay, why do they qualify for income support, when they have a family? Maybe they could send their wives out to work, but how will they pay the nursery/nanny/au pair fees?
  8. They should of given them Breathing Apparatus, thats Government cuts for you!
  9. Cheers Eric, Do you want the fan with the clutch, as the fan would probably bump up the postage a bit! Mark
  10. Don't we all justify out actions within the larger moral framwork of society, and cannot judge one action on its own in a moral vacuum! I don't think FF's are saying we save people therefore we deserve more money, on its own, there are a whole range of reasons why we need/deserve more money!
  11. UUUUUUmmmm, AndyG I have a sense of Deja Vous, with that Avatar of yours!!!!!! UUUUUUUUUmmmmmmmmmm
  12. Hi, While the engine is out, I would like to remove as much unnecessary pipework as poss, I have already removed the EGR and the AiV system! I want to know if anybody else has succeeded in making the engine bay, not resemble an explosion in a plumbing warehouse! Mark
  13. Hi, Am thinking of getting one and would like to find the forums? Mark
  14. Saw one in Demon Tweeks and wondered what people think of them? Can you use them with the existing pump? Do they improve the flow over standard? Mark
  15. Nelson, If you have a degree you should realise that life is not as clear cut as that, if you speed in your Z you are risking lives! If the government cuts FF's appliances and FF's they are definately risking/lost lives, so why doesn't the Gov make it Illegal for us to strike! Because they would have to raise our pay to compensate for it! I only wish life was as clear cut as the way you view it!
  16. Hello Mate, Sounds like that money is burning a hole in your pocket, although I am noone to lecture anyone else on spending money! Why don't you do each mod at a time get used to each increase in BHP gradually and see at what level you are happy with the car! A consideration might be a R33 brake upgrade, about 500-600 quid and a front and rear anti roll bar upgrade, which is meant to be the best suspension mod going, I think you can get them in the States for $250! Mark
  17. Nelson, I am not going to challenge what you say, from previous threads I have seen the way your mind works and believe you and me it SCARES me!;) Kinace I tried to answer all of your comments in an impartial way, but your argument has degraded to a spurious rant! Skippy your role continues to be an Agent Provacateur, while I find your comments entertaining, they are not helping me to give information to people wanting to know about the dispute? Mark
  18. Sounds like you've got some personal Issues! LOL Mark
  19. Hi Vijay, I agree with you completely, Peter is a great bloke that you can never imagine taking you for a ride (only to the airport and back)! He seems to share your enthusiasm about the mods you want to do to your car and takes pride in the work he does! Frankly it is a complete contrast to that previous Paint shop we both visited Eh! I would have got the respray done by him when I first had the car, if I knew I was gonna keep it, for the money it looks a million dollars! It'll look good when it comes out, Mark
  20. Andy, Do you want to sell the 99 front bumper, and I will sort you out a TT replacement sprayed to your colour? Mark
  21. Hi Cerb, If there is a thief in the house, he now knows what alarm you've got, and that it isn't working properley! My be advisable to edit your post now, or post any security concerns in the members areas! Mark
  22. I suppose keep it coming is not a personal remark?
  23. Hi Roy, If I remember rightly they are prone to getting clogged and drops in performance! Don't know how long new ones would cope, if I remember rightly Lymon/Eric, seems to know about this quite a bit, and I know you can get uprated ones! Mark
