Performance exhausts
I think the majority of people on here know that when you put an aftermarket exhaust on the Z there isn't enough back pressure to hold the rear turbo seals in place so you end up with turbo smoke. (happened on my 200 actually but cured it to some extent with a one way valve in the breather pipe). My question is, is this always the case 'cause the car I was meant to be looking at (which broke down) today had a super dragger on but apparently no smoke. I wondered if it's 'cause it's only cat back?

My first Z
Hey Trotter, I tried to find the black na but couldn't. Could you help me out at weekend? I went on my way back from Stoke where I was meeting the guy from London. When he called to tell me he'd broke down I figured it was time to find another one, except that I couldn't. By the way, what do you know about the car? Roy. Will I ever get one. When you've no money ther's bargains everywhere, when you've got money where do they go?

My first Z

My first Z
You know how it is Tony, sometimes you like the feel of one. I got the number off someone but we didn't know his location. I'm near Preston & when he said North London I said Sorry mate & told him where I am & that there was no way I was traveling a long way as I did that last weekend & found a dog. I asked him out of interest if it was na or tt & we got chatting & the longer I was on the more it sounded like a well looked after car. The thing is, he wasn't trying to sell it to me 'cause I'd already said I wouldn't travel. Who knows?

My first Z
I know, sounds like a book for a 2 year old. But it's for a 37 year old. I'm very interested in a G reg Z & will probably buy it this weekend. I keep getting this feeling in my brain that I'm buying a car that's too old. The guy assures me it's near immaculate inside & out 'cept for a few scratches he's pointed out. It's done 55,000 miles (realise I've cam belt to do) ignition amplifier's been done, super dragger cat back, Always used mobil 1. Am I buying a car about to start costing me hods? By the way he wants 3800, I'm gonna go for 3500 obviously.

Aon insurance.
Brent, the number is 01384 552 670 I rang him back after a few more quotes & got a different guy. He got my details up & it was still the same & he's putting it in writing & sending it to me.

Aon insurance.
Just got a quote off aon. 583 fully comp at 37 with 4 years nc on a Jap tt. Other insurers I tried were pretty shocked. Another interesting quote was from A plan, that was 495 third party but the other ones too good to pass up. Aon will give you a British spec price on an import. The guy said they've been researching the situation & realise how rediculous it is. Also they don't just take your details & bang it through the computer & thats what you get, they under write it depending on things like whether you've driven high performance cars before & your clean licence etc... in other words they think about what they're doing. Hopefully I will be purchasing my first Z tomorrow. Oh, by the way they sound reasonable about mods. He said taking into consideration the fact I might stick a performance exhaust on because it's a lot cheaper than a standard one it might not alter the premium at all and if it did it would be hardly any thing.:D :D :D

One to avoid
Almost bought my first Z on Sunday. Found it in Trader on the net. It's in Greenwich & stay clear 'cause it's a dog & it's advertised as mint with mint leather interior, 45,000 miles etc... I rang the guy & talked about it. He said the leather was like brand new, no cracks or scuffs. I asked what the exhaust was like amongst other things as I'd heard how expensive they are. Apparently it was running like a dream. I told him I was from Leyland but I if it really was as good as he reckoned I was prepared to travel.( I didn't mention the wifes Focus got free petrol) He assured me it was so down I went on a 3 hour plus journey to find a cracked & scuffed leather interior with twead bits that looked like someone in oily overalls had been driving it, cracked steering wheel, painted up wheels, exhaust going on back end, part of bumper hanging loose & when I took it for a spin it wouldn't kick down. Oh, & he'd shined all the plastic up with some kind of sticky dash shine & even the wheel was sticky. There's more but I've droned on enough. His name was Ahmet but that's not what I called him. If we hadn't been on a Sainsbury's car park full of families I'd have tw@tid him if you know what I mean.

This is gonna stir up a real hornets nest...
I've had a few autos & always used my left foot for breaking. Gives you a different driving experience.

Turbo Timer
Funny you should mention timers 'cause I was given an APEXi one off someone at work this morning 'cause he recons it's not compatible with his Fiat toupe. Anyway it is wired to the o2 wire on the ecu to calculate cooling time. By the way, it was only 70 quid delivered from E J Performance & it looks mega easy to fit.

Leaking Targa.
On the Z I'm hoping to purchase end of this month, the bloke thinks the roof is leaking but my mate who's a mechanic & did some work on it recons it's the window not seating properly 'cause of some broken plastic thing in the door which he's gonna fix. Can the leaking Targa be a big problem to sort out if it is this? Cheers.

Pre Z queries.
Hoping to purchase a Z at the end of this month & obviously running costs are an issue to think about. My cousin was round tonight & reminded me that his dad does LPG conversions. Will this run ok with the Z, can the engine still be tuned when running on gas? If it will work I can probably get it done pretty cheap (ish). I've been on the SXOC for 18 months or so & never heard it mentioned but I wonder if that's just 'cause of the cost of conversion.

Insurance for a new starter

Insurance for a new starter
I know your probably sick of talking about insurance but a friend just rang up & asked if I'm interested in a Z. I wonder if you could give me an idea of what to expect to pay or some advice on who's best. Bare in mind I'm 37 with 4 years bonus & no points. I wasn't realy ready for one yet but he rekons it'll be at the right mon ey. Oh, by the way it's an import. cheers lads.
