  1. Thanks for your kind words guys. it's great to hear from MAC1, Tooley and Kirbz in particular. Thanks also to the mods (manumac?) for re-opening this post, as I said, this is a thank you/tribute to the people/forum above all. The pic I posted was how I would like my Z to be remembered, things have changed a bit since then. The painwork has oxidised badly and the rims need a refurb. Anyway, yesterday I got a great scrappage deal from Audi (almost 4K) on a new A4 2.0 tdi s-line exec (at least the range of Z's sold was a bit easier to understand!). The only problem is, the car won't be ready until October! I'll have to be extra nice to Mrs W and borrow her car for now! Cheers, Dave
  2. After 10 long, sometimes great, sometimes frustrating years of Z ownership, it's time to say goodbye  A coolant leak has prompted me to take my car to PhilZ for repair, plus an MOT. I usually get the MOT done a day or two before it's due, however, seeing as the car was going to the garage I may as well have it done a bit early. It turns out that the coolant leak is just a split hose, but the problem is it has failed the MOT quite badly. Apparently, the sills are rusted rught through; I was completely unaware of any of this, as the body kit is hiding the corrosion from view. I now have 3 weeks to get rid of the car - I'm frantically looking for good scrappage deals; but what I want and what I can afford are some distance apart. Hopefully, I can land something 'semi-respectable'; but I'm sure it won't bring me the driving pleasure and the fun and cameraderie I have received from being a member of 300zx.co.uk. On the subject of this forum, I'd like to say thanks for all the help and friendship I have received over the years, from the following people:- Craig Bob MAC1 Johnny SRRAE Duffman PaulG Topless AdamR Jez Tooley PhilZ Trey 300Z (Warren) Kirbz Hairsy Bee Gee Vinz Apologies if I've missed anyone off this list, there are so many people over the years, who have added much to my ownership of my Z. ................. Cheers, Dave W davewillo@btinternet.com
  3. Hi folks, My '94 UK 300ZX is leaking coolant from below the neck of the expansion tank filler. The leak is coming from around 6-8 inches down from the yellow filler cap, pointing straight across the front of the engine bay. The hole appears to be perfectly round, this has got me wondering if a pipe has come off. Could somebody please do me a big favour and check the neck of their expansion filler pipe and let me know if a pipe 'T's off around 6-8 inches down from the filler cap? Thanks Dave
  4. It turned out to be a dodgy PTU  Big thanks to PhilZ at Blackmoor Service Station for finding the problem and lending me a PTU to get me back on the road. Also to Mark 'Topless' for selling me a replacement one - both top guys  Dave
  5. The fuel pump is making a noise and I have checked all fuses (forgot about the drivers kick panel) and they seem ok. Thanks for the tip about the ECU codes - I'll check that next. Dave
  6. Nope, no chugging. There's just nothing, it just wont fire up :(
  7. Thanks j1mmytt. I've checked the fuel pump connections and they seem ok. I've also checked the fuses and they seem fine. I do have an immobiliser, but that seems to be working - at least the LED switches off when I insert the ignition key. Any other ideas? Thanks, Dave
  8. Hi folks, long time no see  Last night, when I was reversing up my driveway, the engine cut out. It stopped at the exact moment when the rear wheels made contact with the kerb. I suspect that maybe some sort of electrical connection has become dislodged. When I turn the key, the starter motor goes, but the engine just won't fire up. Anyone got any ideas? I've checked the connections for the CAS and PTU, but they seem fine. Thanks, Dave
  9. I was going for LCD, but eventuallywent for a plasma - better picture quality, darker blacks, handle fast motion (i.e. sport) better. The only downside is they need to be "run in" for around 200 hours. e.g. lower contrast/brightness, avoid channels with bright, static logos in the corner. I can throughly recommend this model http://www.johnlewis.com/230475912/Product.aspx Go to http://www.avforums.com for loads of useful info. Good luck Dave
  10. Hi MAC, long time no see mate :)
  11. Thanks mate, although it's in need of a wash and a serious polish  I feel I'm getting too old for it (had it almost 10 years) and I'm just about ready for a change. Will probably go for something a bit more more 'grown up' like a 5-series diesel soon
  12. Yes that was me - I was wondering who was waving, but I had a feeling you were a fellow Z'er! You don't live in Ainsdale by any chance, just past the Spar? There is a house there that has a couple of Z's in the driveway/garage. Dave
  13. Cheers folks, hope you had a good one Chris! Dave
  14. You're telling me :slap:
  15. I prefer these myself:- Koenigsegg CCX :nana2:
  16. I have a problem with flashing my main beam:- i) When headlights are off and I pull the stalk back to flash, then only the driver's side light flashes. ii) When sidelights are on and I pull the stalk back to flash, then only the driver's side light flashes. iii) When headlights are on and I pull the stalk back to flash, then both main beams flash. iv) When headlights are on and I push the stalk forwards, then both main beams stay on. Any ideas? Cheers Dave
  17. looks good mate, I have the same problem following a respray a few years ago. You spend a few hours polishing then after a couple weeks you are back to square one again. The last person to polish my car was my wife. She used t-cut colour magic and it came up great!
  18. It was my first time "over the water" for many months now, I'm from the 'pool side. Quite lucky that I saw Dave really!!
  19. Came up behind me during probably the worst downpour I've ever driven through  Then a couple of minutes later, the roads were bone dry  Nice zed anyway though! Dave
  20. Happy Birthday mate - all the best people are born on 5th May :)
  21. Cheers folks, can I also wish Chris C a happy birthday while I'm at it!
  22. Hopefully it's not only the teams that are a repeat of the 2005 final; I hope the outcome is the same too. But my heart couldn't take another 3-3 and penalties
  23. Well done Stu, not seen the vid, but many congratulations to you both! Dave

I quite agree, Sony Ericsson have been doing it for years with the P-series.
