Whats the differance between the front steering racks on HICAS & non-HICAS cars? I read somewhere that on the S13 the HICAS rack has a quicker ratio than the non-HICAS rack, is this the same on the Z32?

 

Also where can I get a new rack from all the internet places I've tried only list one rack for all the Z32.

Now I could be wrong here, but......

 

.......as the HICAS only operates on the rear wheels, the front steering rack is the same for HICAS as it is for non-HICAS equipped Z32s.

 

There are sensors in the steering wheel hub on HICAS equipped cars that have some bearing on how the HICAS operates.

Front steering rack is the same for all.

 

In the US the TT had a quicker steering ratio than the NA, but that was not directly related to it being hicas, and for the rest of the world they are the same.

 

Everything associated with the Hicas is elsewhere in the system (pump, resevior, steering boss)

I've actually got a rack which i bought from supercarparts - second hand, but from a low mileage car etc... bought to fix my old car after an 'incident, but i then bought another shell so drop me a pm if you're interested.

Cheers for the info, that makes getting a rack alot easier.
