ok thanx for that stu i think that i will throw his number in the bin after what you have said cheers for the heads up

The rear steering should be visible stationary, if you turn your steering to full lock either way with the engine running, the rear wheels will turn very slightly in the opposite lock. At speed the rear wheels turn the same way as the front. You will not see a big turning difference as you would with the front wheels, only very slight.

Alternatively get someone to turn the wheel while you have a look at the rear axle.

The rear wheels should not move till the car reaches 50mph,the speed will vary slighty on j spec models that are de limited IIRC.You can get the wheels to turn at a walking pace by following a diagnostic procedure that involves pressing the clutch and turning the steering wheel in a certain sequence.Ive tried it to no avail but im told it does work.its explained on TT.net.the hicas light will flash during the diagnostic indicating any fault.

seconded! wheels definitely shouldn't move when stationery... and the diagnostic is, erm, very easy to give up on!!

They did on my prelude, i thought the whole idea was to enable easier parking with the 4 wheel steer, especially at a very slow speed.

Hicas must be just a zed thing then and not really full 4 wheel steer.

I can get the diagnostic mode to engage first time. I just turn it left and right really fast while pressing the brake on and off simutaniously 8-10 times, it works. I spent hours trying to get it to work then one day i just got so stressed i went crazy with the steering and brake pedal and it worked woohoooo. its Not very exciting once it does start to work anyway haha.

Oh and that plug which is disconnected, are you sure its not the turbo solenoid? Didnt you say you had a manual boost controller hooked up or is that someone else?

yea its still got the manual boost crontroler at the min

the wire definatly goes onto the exhaust not the turbo

ah ok then ;) plug it back in and put a volt meter to the middle wire and see what reading you get, i think if its on about 30v its buggered but i cant remmeber. oh and it should be fluctuating all the time.

Its a totally different system to the preludes. Hicas is a high speed handling aid, and not a parking aid.

You can test the Hicas movement on Conzult when stationary, its very cool to see the rear wheels turning in diagnostics mode.
