I'd say lifters or in my case a bloody great bolts resting on the inlet manifold where i can't reach it :headvswal

That sounds like big ends IMHO.the noise is to heavy for lifters. To prove it retard the timing.this decreases load on the pistons which causes the clack as the journal slops around in the bearing.

What sort of pressure is showing on your oil gauge when hot, both on tickover and at 3000 rpm, i.e., after driving the car. I know the standard oil gauge is rubbish but it should give some indication to the state of your big ends.

check oil presure first if good change the oil take it for at nice easy run 30mls should do it then it should sound sweet same thing happened to mine

Dont think it is lifters mate! i had lifters issues and was more like tap dancers dancing, thats alot rougher and louder but you never know :)

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news

have to agree dont sound like lifters to me sorry

Sound can be disstorted very easily over video, but as it comes in louder under load at around 2-3k rpm I would say thats your bottom end.

Sounds like the top of conrod, gudgeon pin play if not bottom end, i wouldnt drive it...

agreed dosen't sound like lifters but obviously needs further investigation by someone who knows the engine as the vid was quite windy;)

poss new shells as said?

I really think it's big ends.

You'll probably find the noise sounds like it's comming from the top of the engine because the piston(s) are now just glancing the heads.....

I know it's not what you want to hear but that's life with Z ownership lol.

All the best.

Rob.
