I have removed PCV valves from my previous cars and just added a small breather filter instead, has anyone done this on a 300?

Were previous cars twin turbo ? I think you might have problems by just plugging a small filter in.

no, a Evo and a Glanza turbo.

So do you think it may cause some issues by removing the PCV's and replacing it with 2 breather filters? It made no difference on thses cars, people also put a oil catch tank on in place too.

Iv been looking and I cant find any info about people doing it on a Z tt.

If you want a set quick ring zedworld 01827 311190. They normally stock them but they have moved premises recently so thier stocks may still be waiting to be replenished.

how many valves/pipes are there?

where are they/pics?

can you not just remove them and clean any dirt out of them?

You wont get them cheaper than from MJP and he carries them in stock - £9 + vat for the pair.

I would have thought he would need the 2 pipes as well, as they normally go very hard, in fact they break when you try and take them off.

you cant just fit breathers on the rear valves, they have a secondary function of a clean air flush through the front tubing on the cam covers, you can fit filters on the front pipes and block off the feed to the intake though without any problems

so just to clarify, I CANT replace the pcv valves with breather filters.

The reason I thought it would be ok is because the valves only allows air to pass 1 way through them, so block off the intake manifold side and have the cam covers breathing freely.

If cant I have a go at cleaning them with some carb cleaner and a air line, usually succesfull, failing that il be straight onto MJP

the valves clean out no problem with paint thinners, its the pipes that need renewing as they get harder than a witches tit and dont seal right

the crankcase requires the suction from the plenum when the pcv valve is open as the suction pulls clean air through the crankcase using the front tubes, if you dont have suction on those pipes then you dont get a fresh air flush through the crankcase, not a major downer but it degrades the oil quality quicker

forgot to mention if you really want to get rid of the pcv you can fit a vacuum pump to the crank breather lines to provide that suction, just run the vac through a catch can

some great advice, cheers guys, I think Il just try clean the valves first and replace the hoses as its prob the least hastle way.

Thanks again.

Iv sorted it, one of the pipes had split hense rough running when it was cold.

So Iv cleaned both valves out, replaced the pipes and cleaned my injector connectors as they where green, especually the back 2.

She is running like a dream now, no misfire or hesitation on cold.

For anyone who wants to clean the PCV valves out use this link, its the same for a TT.

Not worth cleaning them for the sake of £10 the pair for new ones. Its the pipes that are expensive, not the valves.
