well it eventually happened ...my zds rngine give up on me and is only runnin on 2 cylinders.......had it looked at by a mechanic n he sed its as good as dead...need new engine or rebuild this one, any one got any ideas wat best root is?

Anyway, your car would not run if it only had 2 firing cylinders, there wouldn't even be the momentum to start. What did your mechanic actually do to come to the conclusion that the engine is dead? Did he do a compression test?

Unless your mechanic was use to working on these cars it is more likely the he gave up on the car not the engine. Take it to someone who knows Zeds and as Si has stated, get a compression test done but also get the electricals checked out. They are more likely to have failed that some mechanical item.

i was on holiday when he foned up my house...dont no exactly what he did ....wen i got home i started her up to see for my self n it was running ok just it was still smoking on throttle...god only knows wat they wer on about so gunna get another opinion n get a compression test dun.

found out the true problems 2day ...apparently the rings are shot n the liners are worn down to wen the turbos wer goosed.....on the hunt for a new lump now...if any one got one let me know asap. 'meht' if ya still got that 1 mite be interested let me know.

I bought an engine from my mate (john300zx) in February for £150, its been sat on the pallet and tightly covered with a tarp since as i no longer have the car. It was running when removed from the breaker John had and done about 90,000 miles, you can have it for the same price i paid. The pic is the one John sent me when i bought it.

It has less then a day to go, and I can't use the Buy It Now function anymore, as it has some bids already. Just place a bid! It is a excellent engine, I had a closer look yesterday and it looks like the timing belt, tensioner, and water pump had been changed very recently as per 60K service. Good luck
