are you the type of person that cant say no just to keep people happy, just had a guy on the phone saying he is sorry for not paying his rent last week as he is having probs with the ex (actually genuine), his real intention for the phone call was to ask if he could miss this weeks rent as he needs to buy one of his kids a prezzie for his bday (which again is genuine)

i told him NO!!!, he has missed one week and he has to pay double this week, he told me i was a coont, i told him to pay his way or fook off, then he said cant believe you are stopping me from buying my son a prezzie for his bday

im not stopping him buying a prezzie, im getting the money in to pay the bills, its only £50 FFS, if every tennant had a sob story that i bowed down to i wouldnt get any cash in, you have to be able to say no

i also do this with family and friends, i dont do anything that i dont want to-to make other people feel better, i may sound selfish but ive seen people who give in and say yes to please others and they always tell me they are sick of it

does anyone else make themselves unhappy to please others??????

Yeah! She pisses me off constantly!

i have a bad habit of saying yes to people, but slowly and surely they are grinding me down and its getting alot easier to say no !

people hate me for simply saying no, at the end of the day, i have bills to pay, and i look after no1 (me), why make myself unhappy/uncomfortable to please others

stella/ I live in a council house and pay £370 a month,if I phoned them to say i needed to buy a family member a present and I could not pay my rent that month what would they say???.If he cant pay his rent kick him out.

Its differant if there is money involved and you need it just as much as he dose then you have to say no.

But i always find it hard to say no. i always try to please everyone the best i can.

That because your a grumpy old man

I will only do it with mates. not just anyone ;)

I'm soft and can't say no to people and ofter walk away saying FFS, but I am also the kind of guy that lets nothing bother me, so I probally will get whats coming to me one day big time lol

This guy is testing the water and seeing if your a soft touch! Do it once for him and he'll do it all the time! I noramaly help people if i can but have had a few hard lessons and been burnt so am always cautious. Yoy could have said yes and it'll cost you £25 to instill the lesson.

PS Have you got £1500 i can borrow to pay my mortgages this month as she's nagging me for a present as well!!!!

you seem to get a lot of hassle and sob stories, is it worth the hassle? keep kicking them out and sooner or later you will get some that are genuine and pay every week,

ive been doin this for 14 years now lol, ive heard all the sob stories

I think that says everything Al, you just become hardened to these people, and thats defineately the best thing :)

As I always maintain:

A lack of planning on your part doesn't constitute a problem on mine.

Bang to rights mate, i don't disagree with what you've said it's spot on.

I used to be a yes man but recently i became a no man and it's paid off.

A friend of mine was in major debt, she wanted to borrow 500 to tide her through till next month.

I said i'd think about it but first i wanted to see her bank statements and see what was going wrong.

Turns out she was down by 150 quid a month on her reduced hours, my reasoning being that if she was 150 quid down a month, how was she ever going to pay me back and all she was doing was bailing out the water without fixing the leak.

Her biggest downfall was her rental property paying 575 a month for a house she lived in by herself.

I got her to hand in her month's notice there and then, i posted it for her and made sure it went off and she's finally after a load of swearing at me given up and moved back with her parents to save up her money, pay off some debts and suprise suprise she's now less stressed and has a shed load of money per month.

It does pay to say no :D

Exactly!

You were right to say no mate. If you give an inch to some people they take 10 miles.....

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
