Last week i bought a Acer Aspire 8920G all singing and dancing with a 18.4 screen here in Spain. Now this thing is HUGE its like a bloody paving slab.

However the assistant told me it had the software for Eglish installed.TW@T LIED.:mac1:

Apparently Windows Vista Home Premium only has the language from the country you buy it.

Now i realy liked this PC but everyone i talk to says Acer are crap.So im now looking for one with simular spec.

Anyone Help?

Thanks

Steve

MMM Sony i never thought of them.

Any more?

Acers are a cheaper brand I think. Doesn't mean they are necessarily crap. I think they are one of the more popular brands. The motherboards are probably all made and populated in China, just like HP, Dell etc. They are all generally installed with a Microsoft operating system which is where the problem lies. My GF has an Acer and whilst it's not the most aesthetically pleasing laptop, it's got a reasonable spec and works well.

I've had quite a number of laptops, Fujitsu Siemens (which I thought was pretty crap although reasonably rated), Toshiba, Dell and Compaq.

Currently have an old Dell D600 for work which is due for replacement. Windows XP on it. Desperately slow, but never seems to crash or do silly things. Very robust. My own personal laptop that I use for p0rn, ebaying and other general clap-trap is a Compaq Presario V6000. It's about a year old now, but was a good spec when I got it and it still runs well. Nice build quality and a really nice design. This runs Vista.

for £800 quid ? what are you doing with the laptop, jsut surfing the net emails and downloads? if thats the case u dont need a 800 quid laptop i know my pc's and laptops i bought a samsung r60plus 450 quid and its still overspecd, you can get a mint dual core with 160gb hard drive and 2 gb memory for udner 500 nowadays, probs be a 15 inch screen which i find ideal for home use, i have a 12.1 inch samgsung also for when i go away on trips and stuff

i got mines FREE from the nice people at AOL/carphone warehouse thanks.:hyper:

dan;)

Given a choice I would stick with my IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad, I have several of them now and am hoping to acquire another soon ! Doubt whether they fit in the £800 bracket though.
