I know not everyone likes the bonnets lifted at the rear by the hinges, but I did mine on Sunday.

My car always runs with the temp gauge perfectly horizontal when nice and warm, now it runs just below horizontal. So the lift is making a usefull difference.

As our cars get way too hot under the bonnet I think this is a cheap and effective thing to do.

Isnt removing the rubbers at the back of the bonnet doing the same but without it looking weird?

Are there any issues with rain water getting into the engine bay and onto those already delicate connections? especially the ones on the firewall?

I will do some pics, try tommorrow, as for the water getting in, I dont think its a problem.

I will let you know if I have any problems, (I dont drive it in the rain on purpose though), and the forward motion will keep it from getting in where I have lifted it I guess. As for it getting wet standing still I dont think it wil get in.

I lifted it about 20mm, not a great deal. When standing still, engine running you can feel the heat pouring out of the "lift".

No did a test with a hose running onto the windscreen it runs down some drain holes and doesn't enter the engine bay at all!

Yep, I found this too, unless you spray the hose directly UNDER the bonnet from a backwards angle it's 100% fine.

I removed it on my red car and you'd be surprised how much of a gap it opens up :D

yes but it does look silly LOL

I am OK with the look to be honest. Would not do it on a "normal" car, but as I have played with my Z I think its fine.

But it is a personal thing I agree, and my car is my personal car. Lol

Thanks. Tried but it says my email is invalid, which it isnt, so stuff them...

Why would anyone want to do that to there z?:confused:

I can see the function over form aspect of it, but i agree with Si, i'd rather fit a vent, IMO it looks like the incorrect bonnet has been fitted or something! :(

In theory yes, and would'nt look like the car has had a frontend smash either. Be interesting to see if its just as effective.

I have just fitted a rubber to mine  Got nothing but problems with damp connetors on the drivers side, causing the dash to click and the engine blip

I really want to see someone graft a Mercedes C/E-class vent and washer jets to the back of their bonnet. I think that would look pretty good as far as vented bonnets go.

Only bonnet vent that looks good is the Monza style with the bulge.

Each to their own, although it does look a bit odd in the pic. But, whatever, it works. And its not irreversable.

Compared to some of the snow plough bumpers, jumbo rear wings and double ugly sill extensions some people fit I dont see it being that bad.
