Been looking in the forums , for info on the fuel gauge, as i have just filled up. Now it has started to bounce up and down mainly follows the road bumps would it be the sender unit in the tank

Featured Replies

Either the sender unit or you may have fuel in the float. By removing the spare wheel you can get to the sender at the top of the tank, fairly easy job, but as you have filled up, be very careful of the fumes and anything that might cause a spark. I would be inclined to disconnevt the battery when removing the sender unit.

Took the sender unit out, no fuel in the float ,tried to do a meter test seems fine, so could it be the meter gauge, or get a new one

How did you do the meter test, as you can short the terminals to make the gauge appear full and therefore rise and vice versa. It could be the fuel gauge , but they are generally reliable.

It is more likely to be the fuel sender, if its on its way out it will not be sending the reading to the gauge accurately
