Can anyone tell me the size of the standard rear speakers in a zed? I don't wanna pull all my trim out to measure them and THEN buy some, lol.

Cheers :)

Depends what's already there. Some have 6 x 4s and others have 13cm or 15 iirc, can't remember which. Pop the speaker cover off and have a look. Mine had bose circular speakers.

If i take the covers off tomorrow, can i get a ruler in to measure? Only reason i did'nt look is cos its dark and cold, lol :D

You should be able to get an idea of size, yes. The 6 x 4s are obvious as they are oval, I just can't remember what my circular ones were size wise. But pop the cover off and you can see most of the speaker, so it'll give you an idea.

Most seem to come with 6 x 4s. JBL, Alpine and Infinity do 6 x 4s, I rate Infinity. I have Alpine all round in mine. Alpine's quality speaks for themselves, but any of those are as good as each other.

I think you need to look for 4 x 6s, same thing, but manufacturers use the smalled dimension first.

Mine were standard....just depends. Some came fitted with circular bose rear speakers, some didn't.

Thanks Si, very helpful indeed mate :) Mine are defineately Oval :D So i'll pop the covers off and have a check tomorrow just to be sure and go from there. :)

Thanks mate :D :duffer:

They'll be 4 x 6s then if they are stock speakers.

You're a star Si :D :duffer:

Any recommendations......? :) Model no's etc.....

I've got some JBL ones if you want them mate.

Can you gimme some details mate? :)

Cheers :D

Mine had stock 4 x 6's and they were crap. (Hitachi 8W jobbies) Replaced them with a set of JBL GTO6426e's. Not the best sounding but i wanted a stock fit, which they do perfectly. You won't get much range out of a 4 x 6 but they do the job, if you know what i mean.

edit. Forgot to say, the GTO6427's also fit. They are just the newest model and have 2ohm impedance.

Thats very helpful, thanks mate :D

I want the stock size, but i want some decent quality ones :D

If you want quality, rip out all the old wiring and fit a 4 way amp. Something I need to do at some point. I've replaced all the wiring, just need a small amp to give the speakers a bit of a kick to them.

I will be doing the wiring i think Si, as i need to take the trim out at some point anyway, 2 birds 1 stone and all that :D

Where would i mount the amp mate? Its my first time really taking an interest in ICE so i want as much advise as i can get lol :D I'm also planning on fitting a sub in the back, any advise on that...........?

Cheers,

Isaac :)

Well, I've already got a sub and an amp to install in the boot. But I am looking for a small thin 4 way amp mounted up under the dash behind the glovebox. Genesis and Alpine to small ones.

I don't want it to appear that I have an install. Want everything hidden away.

I don't mind things being on display TBH Si, i understand why you are doing things that way tho :)

So let me ask you something then, lol. Will i need a 4-way amp for the 2 front and 2 rear speakers and then another amp for the subs.......?

And thanks for the help so far :) :duffer:

I think so. I am crap on car audio, I know almost Zero about the subject. 4 way would power the 4 speakers and a seperate 2 way will power the sub.

Another reason that I want the amp under the dash is so that I don't have to pull the interior out again. I just wanted to see what new speakers and a headunit would be like. Not enough for me. I'll only have small amounts of cabling to do if I get a small amp and fit it under the dash.

Sounds like a good plan mate :D

You're zero knowledge is obviously alot more than mine, lol

Thanks for the help Si, i really do appreciate it :D :duffer:
