Well I think I have to accept that my zed (UK 1990 TT) is going to take a trip to the scrap yard in the near future.

Over the last year the rust on the bodywork seems to have progressed really quickly.

I have just gone out to do some jobs on it as I was going to take it for its MOT next week, but whilst underneath I noticed a hole in the near side sill, I then had a good look around the rest of it and after gently tapping inside the rear wheel arch I was left with the pile of rust in the photo below, about a three inch square section fell off, the rear bumper has no support left now.

I have already replaced the hatch as that had gone.

Rust is showing in the following places.

At the top of both suspension struts under the bonnet.

Both targa's.

Passanger side sill, the seam is all bent and rusted as if someone has jacked it up in the wrong place at some time in its life.

Passanger side A pillar (below the rubber bung that people use for amp feeds etc).

The passanger door has some bubbles showing.

Both rear arches have bubbling.

Rust below the drivers side rear light.

I'm sure I could find alot more if I tried.

I don't think it is even worth going for the MOT, I would be just wasting my time and money.

I don't know alot about body repairs, but I think that the price of repairing all the rust and getting it resprayed would be to much.

I have been kidding myself that it was ok for too long and just need to get on with getting a new shell as the engine is fine.

Anyway I have just got the motorbike out the garage so will charge the battery on that tonight and use it for work instead until I can sort out a new shell.

Make sure that if you use it as a DD, ie drive it in the winter through all the salt and shite that you wax oil it and keep it clean. :)
