Hi All,

Ive been talking to a mate of mine who thinks that with all my lightened gear im going to have alot of trouble starting off in my car like at traffic lights etc.

And also mensioned that i will loose alot of torque?

I have:

1 piece lightned prop

12lb flywheel

full set of pulleys

With a six puck clutch which i have driven another Zed with the same clutch and there aint much difference to the stock.

Does anyone have the same sort of spec or know any better??

Cheers

Dan

I have alot of lightened stuff and same as, a friend of mine thinks the heavy stuff helps momentum. I'm nun the wiser which is best really!

As far as I know, the idea behind lightened stuff is to limit inertia and let things spin up easier. Technically, it should mean that acceleration should be EASIER not harder. The only time that you will lose out is going uphill etc., where the inertia of the flywheel and other components spinning helps pull the car along.

Very basic description I know and I stand to be corrected, but this is how I understand it!

A heavier flywheel helps in getting more low end torque and a more stable idle and in some cases better fuel economy (especially for city driving)

A heavier flywheel is a not an uncommon modification for smaller displacement engines.

As the VG30DETT is already an engine with quite a bit of (low end) torque, it won't really matter. (I think)

Although I must admit I have never tried a heavier (then stock) flywheel on a Zed.

One thing that is noticeable with a lighter flywheel, is the engine comes more alive and revs (much) easier and I have certainly no regrets of the fidanza flywheel I have on my Zed.
