I have been told to hold the brake pedal down hard, dial up to 4000rpm then let the brake pedal go is this right or not..

Mmm ive had so many probs with the auto box at the mo iam treating it like my second child so i dont want to abuse it you know so iam looking for the best the best way to launch it.

My next door neigbour has a mitsubushi evo 9 i think its the 305bhp model, hes a ****er always bragging about it id love to shove it up his fat arse, so iam trying to do his 0-60 time ive got a few mods to go but its an auto box not a manual so i need help, thanks Si..

I'l be honest, you'll never match an Evo 9 FQ-300 with a zed unless its running BIG power!

My auto's 0-60 was about 6.3, that was from a standing start no revs etc. If you hold it on the brakes and let the car slip against the Autobox then you'll perhaps get a better start.

An Automatic 300zx's party piece though is its kickdown at motorway speeds, floor it at 70 and the kickdown into 3rd is just awesome right round to enough to get you very very banned in one gear!

I did 3 runs on a private road 2 years ago and got 5.3 on the 1st. 4.8 on the 2nd and 4.5 on the third. It was measured on one of those G-Tech things. and mines auto. I have an Impul ECU and a Greddy induction kit and not sure what else. But I have no interest in making it go faster I just want it to look better. My next external mod is a '99 spec front a vented panel and an exaust closure skirt

Stock Manual is around mid 5 secs, or high 4secs with 1bar boost and supporting mods. I've never seen a published time for the Auto but It feels between a few tenchs and half a second slower on the old butt dyno.

The method you mentioned is an Autobox party trick for drag racing, it allows the car to build boost on the line....unfortunatly it will very quickly kill a stock Zed autobox.
