Just ordered some 476. I am going to rotary my car sometime over the next week with a bit of light wet sanding in places.

Wondering if anyone's used 476? It's the first Collinite product I've ordered. I know it's not going to offer as wet of a look as a glaze, but wondering if it's still good for a similar effect? I understand it's very good wax and its protection lasts for months....on my car, that'll probably be for years! LOL

I am sure Peach has used it.

....wondering what glazes everyone uses on their cars too?

I am sure Peach has used it.

Actually, that's one product I haven't had the pleasure of using yet!! LOL!

So, I'll expect a full report ;) :D

It's done! I used Collonite 476 after I'd machined polished the paintwork on my Z, which still needs more machining IMHO. But I washed it just now and you can really see the depth of the gloss and water repelling qualities of the wax. Very happy with it. Was actually a joy to dry!!!

I recommend it, but I've only tried a small number of products and I did go all-hell on it with the machine polisher before hand. I'm sure the shine will last a LOT longer than Meguiars!

Looks good matey, where did you source it from. At the moment im still using Megs #80 and #83 combo. Bought some Swissvax Onyx last month. Im due to machine the zed again in the next week or so (depends when my mates barn is free again) and ill let you know how it goes.

Have a read of this, the collinite does bloody well!

What sort of machine polisher is it you have

I was going to go for a Porter Cable, but i couldnt be arsed with the hassle of the transformer, so i went for a Megs G220. Its done me proud so far, take a look at my rides and youll see what i mean

Looks realy nice need to get mine done to help sell it so i will look that up ta

I am in exactly the same position now myself deciding what polisher to get, I am tempted by a rotary but am unsure of how much experience you have to have not to screw up the paintwork!

Shaun, I can't remember the make, it's actually one I'm borrowing from jimmer...which I really should have given him back some months ago! LOL It's variable speed, using a foam pad with various compounds/lubes.

Nick, I got the product from Elite car care. http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk Very good service I received too.

Nice beading shot there Si, might have to get myself some 476.

I'm using a Porter Cable, but a G220 is pretty much exactly the same, but in 240v. I have a rotary too but it is far easier to burn the lacquer if you don't know what you're doing (catching an edge can happen in the blink of an eye).

Get some scrap panels and practice before attacking your pride and joy with a rotary - that's what I did. Having said that, I still prefer to use the Porter Cable - it's more comapct and easier to handle IMO.

:)

I used a rotary, but at a low speed, plenty of lube on a foam pad. :)

Be careful when getting close to the edge of the panel as the paint is a lot thinner there and also dont touch bumpers imho ive learned from previous mistakes!

I machine polished the car last month, no problems here. I was very gentle and had it on slow speeds at the edges. You saw the car last night. :)
