I have just got my alloys back from the refurbishers and would like to know what i can put on them to keep them looking good. The dish has been polished and is very shiny and i would like to keep them that way!!!

I was recommended by the metal polisher i used that standard car wax was good enough to keep the dirt off.

His work is brilliant so i trust his word on that one.

I've used a combination of brasso pads and then a couple of layers of car wax to keep the wheels in good nick

I use 'Brilliant' polish on mine. But use Autosol or Belgom Alu as a first stage. Brilliant is a much finer cut and gives a deeper shine. I use that as a final stage. My wheels still look as good as they did when they were refurbed over 2 years ago.

does wax keep the brakedust off alloys by creating a barrier? making them easier to clean?

Cheers guys! Should i use Brilliant on them now before they go on the car to give them some protection? Or just use the Belgom Alu the first time they need polishing then the Brilliant?

They are both polishes as opposed to waxes/sealants, so maybe I'm not fully answering your question. I've never put a sealant on mine as they can dull the metal. The Belgom has a slightly deeper cut. So if they've just been done, you could use the Brilliant. It polishes so finely that it'll repel a lot more water than just cutting with a paste.

Something I did look at putting on, that's supposed to be quite good is something called Metal Mate. I can't find any information about it now. It's something I found a few years ago and it's a clear solution you wipe on, allow to dry and that's it, the top layer of metal is protected by a thin clear, but breathable weather resitant film.

I think it was called metal mate, but I can't remember.

There are other types of wheel sealant about, but not sure if these are suitable for bare metal, more for the painted/powder coated wheel department.

Contacted the company about Metal Mate and the Aston Martin place he cuggested charge £60 for 4 wheels. Normal price is around the £80 mark. Has anyone had their alloys coated with the stuff?

Mate, it's £20 for the 2 bottles which will do 4 wheels. I think your mate is getting his wires crossed?

Nope, the kit I've seen comes as a twin pack. I was quoted by South West Tyres as they sell it over the counter.
