Just wanted to add my comments about last weeks JAE weekend.

It was by far the best camping weekend I’ve had with the club to date. The atmosphere was superb and very friendly.

I appreciate that the location wasn’t ideal for many members, however, it really was worth the extra miles. The beach location is far better than The East of England showground at Peterborough. Many of our members travelled an awful long way to get there and from the feedback I got before leaving on the Sunday afternoon, everyone thought it was worth it and would definitely be returning in 2009.

The JAE team really did pull out all the stops to put on a busy weekend. You have to take your hat off to them for the superb organisation. Big respect to John Fuggles and his team.

Just some of the activities over the weekend:

Inter-club 5 a side football

Inter-club It’s a knockout

Car pull challenge

Japanese eating challenge

Show and Shine event

Mega firework display on the Saturday night.

Disco and live band

And many more..

I also wanted to take this opportunity to say some personal thanks;

First of all, to our National Events Organiser (KIM). I know how much work KIM put into this event, giving up many hours leading up to JAE. Even when we got there and set everything up, he wasn’t finished, as he spent the majority of the weekend cooking for our members and their friends and families. When he wasn’t cooking, he was playing David Bailey, taking loads of photos for everyone back in the club to enjoy. Top man KIM and thanks!!:bow:

Secondly, I just wanted to personally thank the many members who did make the trip this year. For me, the best part about this year’s JAE, was the fact that I met so many members that I hadn’t previously met. In some ways it was like camping with a new club.

From the South Central: Groover, Andy Isherwood, Ianl, Gezzmarrelda

From the South East: Willyed, Bluenick, creoso, krsmayo

Big thanks to Shrek, who travelled all the way from Edinburgh. Special thanks to Trish (tulip), who travelled all the way from Dublin to be with us. It really was good to meet you guys and can’t wait for next year. :hyper::hyper:

Big thanks to viniboy for helping KIM and I set up on the Thursday afternoon and a special thanks for lending us a mattress each out of your cabin.

All in all a cracking weekend!! :nana2::nana2:

The only negative to put on the whole weekend was the numbers, with about 30 zeds on the stand on the Saturday afternoon.

I have thought about the reasons why and obviously the distance/location will come into play, however, most of the members who were actually there, travelled from all corners of the country. When you take into account that nearly 200 of our subscribed members actually live within 100 miles of the venue, the distance shouldn’t really be an issue.

Another reason could be that we haven’t been to JAE since 2006 and many new members may not be fully aware what JAE actually is. We have had at least 200 new members since 2006. If you have a passion for zeds and Japanese performance cars in general, then JAE is a must. It’s the biggest Japanese car show in Europe.

Finally, a one for next year; 300ZX.co.uk have now won 2 of the last three Datsun / Nissan “Best in Show” awards at the JAE Show and Shine events (JASON FARROW in 2006 and your’s truly this year). We will be looking to keep this trend up in 2009 and keep our club on the map. We need to find another zed for next year’s event (obviously not me or Jason) and show the Skylines that the Z32 is still a stunning car. Something for all you owners with top notch zeds to think about.

Looking forward to JAE ’09 already!

Cheers

Good job guys!

RE. Numbers turning up. It seams to be more of a trend now that its becoming more of an online club than a real life place. Shame as meets are a great way to keep interest in the cars and make new friends.

Fingers crossed for a great summer of sunshine next year to bring the people out their hiding holes!

my only bad thoughts were. Toilets, not enought and not very well maintained, and nice fireworks, but i was a bit pissed off with the fall out from it all over us and the cars. apart from that not bad, some how billing felt bigger

I think the venue was great, the atmosphere was great - almost like a holiday camp, with the bars and entertainment, beach etc. etc. My only concern is the space available, this year was fine, next year it WILL be busier and I'm not sure how much more space they will find. So, all I would say is, book early to avoid disappointment !

I agree, the location was excellent and the drive was no problem (must get the aircon fixed though ). The site had lots for the kids to do which was also a bonus.

The only criticism I would make would be the lack of camping space. The MR2 club had taken over the quiet camping area and the Mazda's the general.

I will almost certainly be there next year.

Mark

SH1T, someone moved bristol in the night and no-one told me:p

Thanks for the Superb write up Steve, having read your down points about the weekend, all of them and more have been aired on the JAE Forum to John Fuggles, especially the one about stand space and camping area's. This year was the 1st year at Mersea Island, and was a tester for everyone, mainly the JAE Organization. john has taken ALL the points on board, and next year will see some welcome improvements, mainly with the layout of the Club Stands. ;)

what chris said about toilets and the ash fallout i agree 100%

wingnut your only allowed come next year if you get rat assed with the rest of us:)

mark, love your new user name, :D did you see the pic zogg put up in another thread

and i am going to give kim a well deserved break from the cooking, and have promised to make a big pot of curry 1 of the nights

btw yous were so good hiding my bottle, every time i left it on display someone put it under the table or a chair

there didn't seem to be any power supply to the stands, so if we ever wanted a DJ / Bands have to be from a generator

I seem to remember us paying for a generator (or was it just a power supply?).

Sounds pretty positive, maybe next year i'll make the effort, was good back in the day at Billing.

We had a Generator! it was used for the Lights on the evening.

Nothing I could say would matter now. Because its all been said. The venue was great the atmosphere was second to none and the company from within our club and others was very calm and freindly. My family were very impressed with the attitude of our club members and have remarked on how homely it felt on our stand. My liitle grandson just over 2 now was running around and hopefully didnt get in anyones way. on showing him some photos he knows who Steve and Kim are. He remembers Trish, Brian and Graham and believe it or not he knows who's car is who's. Now IMO thats not something any child would remember unless he felt safe?

A great weekend and to some of those that didnt go............Forget any differences you may have and get there next year. Honestly folks it was brilliant. :duffer::bow:

Unfortunately we were asked to turn the Generator off as it was poisening the atmosphere :x:
