Is the timming supposed to change during driving? Mine is 15 degree when idle. When I floor it 15 degree. But it somewhere between 20 and all the way up to 40 sometimes when driving along normaly... (that includes a bit of throttle and rpm variation. Normal driving)

Is this normal?

Yeah... i hope so mine does it as well... Now im going to sound stupid now, is this the ignition timing? As in at what point through the cycle the ptu tells te coils to generate power for the plugs to ignite the fuel/air mixture?

i dont think its the VVT as thats the variable valve timing, not the ignition timing? The VVT operates when the engine goes over certain revs, like hondas vtec (YO!)

found out a bit more. The program I used (ztalk i think) does not tell the correct timming. It just think it's 15 degree. The timming has to be done manualy.

Well. Adjusted the timming to 15 degree with a timming gun. Hooked it up to the ptu since i didn't get a signal from the coil (Not a good timming gun I gues). I still have problems. The engine is still ticking and it's not running as smooth as it should.

I've noticed when I set the timming that the ticking is heavyer and less depending on the timming when I tried to get it to 15 degree btdc.... Could it be that the 15 degree is wrong. Remember reading something about using the ptu that you could get wrong readings...

Anyone have a tip on the ticking problem????

the timing should be set to 15 deg BTDC unless its a '96 model i do believe in which case it should be 10 deg BTDC,

when you say "ticking", where is it ticking from? what injectors are you running? as larger injectors will tick, either that or you have a sticky/dry lifter;)

any chance of listing engine spec...
