I posted this problem up a few weeks ago.

Story so far. Car had been sitting for along time due to engine problems. I got car back and brakes started to squeal etc. So i changed pads, renewed fluid and exercised all pistons to make sure none were siezed. All was ok then this last week started again. So once again i copper greased everything!! Pistons exercised again and even grease them but the problem is still there.

It doesn't happen on initial drive only after a few miles. If i press the brake pedal slightly it stops, indicating that the pistons are not returning.

Just asking before i rebuild the calipers, does the master cylinder play up on these cars. Its only happening on the fronts!!??

How much are rebuild kits??;)

Cheers

Jonce

do they only squeek when cold? try giving them a good work out and see if they still squeek when hot

Thats the problem bud. They don't squeak on cold only on hot!!

mine do exactly the same, strangely i get it at exactly the same place on my way home from work everyday, if you feather your foot on the pedal you can play a cool tune.

Driver side front on mine, when i take a closer look it looks like one of the metal things is slightly bent, im kinda used to it now, forgot to ever fix it anyway.

But its so imbarrassing (if thats how you spell it!!) when in traffic. Its well bad!!

had same prob, after the zed warmed up really annoying,

took zed back to garage he skimmed the pads so it does nt catch the lip on the disc, job done ,ps cleaning and copper paste did'nt work

When you say they squeel, do you mean they are squeeling as you are driving or only when you press the brake pedal.

I got my R33 GTR rebuild kit for the calipers from Abbey Motor sport recently for £68 delivered. Not sure what calipers you are running.

if jonce is the same as mine, its on standard calipers (series 1) and only when pressing the brake, i only get it from the drivers side.

It sqeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllsssssssss and squeaks when i have slowed down and im in a built up area or a slow traffic jam. My brakes are not applied. It goes if a feather the foot brake. It seems to be touching. Its not a full squeeeeeeek, just squeak, squeak etc.......

If it's doing it on and off without the brakes being applied, i.e. as you speed up the squeek's increase, sounds like warped discs.

Sounds like a winner, does it seem to shudder under braking also? feels a bit like abs kicking in way toooooooo early! that was my problem and it seems the shuddering can be enough to snap alloys :wack: so my fix cost 270 for new pads and discs and £40 for a new alloy (cheers chunk!)

Joel thanks for that buddy. Is there anyway to see if its the brake servo. Must be some tip to do with these cars LOL:D

if you do decide to rebuild the calipers the standard zed rebuild kits best price is biggred... 30 quid for the fronts and 19 for the rears... top quality gear aswell, i always use them.
