unfortunatly ive gone through a red light.

nothing speeding, was lost coming home one night and accidently went through one.

now i dont supose thats going to sound any good in court.

so il just send off the slip.

is there any way i can avoid having a fine?

not too bothered about points. Cannot have a ban (work etc)

or will i HAVE to have a fine?

i got done before - one millisecond over the line - in fact half my car was over the line when the first snap was taken (i asked for photographic evidence). i took the 3 points fine and the slap on the wrist, even tho i reckon if id contested it in court i might have won.

You might of gone through a set of traffic lights that doesnt have cameras..... just maybe its possible....

Been through 3 red lights, one speed camera, all of em flashed and nothing !!

Just depends on whether Bonusprint is busy that day I suppose ?

Hope you are lucky !

Alan...........

Where abouts? The only ones i know of around here are opposite Tesco on Western Avenue in Cardiff...Most of teh rest have no cameras...Also the NIP must reach you within 14 days of the offence so note the postmark against date of letter and the offence...

if there was a flash prepare! should recieve something within 2weeks! then 3points and like 60quid fine! if not got anything then your home free :)

in 14 days youll get your NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) through the post. If you dont get anything within 14 days, you wont here anything at all

Well you probably will hear - and have to send them a polite notice pointing out that you haven't been notified within 14 days... assuming your DVLA records are correct: if not, the police can issue NIP outside of 14 days to allow a reasonable time to trace you...

TBH im yet to see that happen, and if it does, im sure any decent lawyer would get it thrown out of court due to not meeting ACPO guidlines.

I hate them traffic light cameras, locked the front end up once stopping for one of them! The car that was next to me went through and got flashed tho!

I know 2 people it's happened to - one being me!! As my dad's a retired policeman, they received a rather lengthy letter to that effect... result: "after reviewing the contents of your letter, it has been decided that no further action will be taken in this instance"

My missus also works for a central payments unit - and we have lots of arguments about it - you wouldn't believe how slack some of the regulations are followed! They operate on the basis of try to collect fine, if any representations are made it is passed on for review...

PS, ive actually had the letter from the police.

so ive been caught.

offecnce date was 07/06/08 (day i baught the car!)

thinkin may have taken them time to track me down as log book swapping over etc?

so then, im having a fine by the looks

i thought they had to notify you within 14 days, after then it could be totally disregarded. Or is that just for speeding offences?

I think the idea is, is that it becomes hard to remember over 14 days who had a particular vehicle at a time....

dont really care about the points,

the money!

Yes but points = alot more money on your insurance! So id be more worried about hte points!

Have you read all the replies? One explains the scenario for outside the 14 days :headvswal

Meh, not very clearly...

so your basically saying they can send a letter outside of the 14 days saying were still going to prosecute, whats the point in the 14 day rule then?
