Here are some boring pix of my car in a state is sanded and filled but its getting there. My mate is helping but I have decided to do most of the work myself (get my hand in) and when it comes to the spraying, well I am going to have a go at that too. Nothing wrong with trying a new thing is there?

Anyway I will feel better if I do it myself it sort of goes with the whole theme as I have done everything else myself :)

Flippin eck' you really did crack on with it today

Yeah but I am just hoping the paint dont peel off at 31MPH. LOL. Just joking. The tailgate has to be finished and then the flatting and polishing in a few days.

This is how I am hoping the whole car comes out. There are some bits and bobs that I have done slightly wrong but most will buff out but this bit the rear bumper is compounded and still needs polishing so I am quite chuffed. We will see :o

Its looking good vini. cant wait to see it myself :)

If it looks half as good as yours Pete then I will be happy mate. ;)

Im back on nights tonight so am off over there to do somemore in a mo.

Hi Vini,

Its looking great and as you say it doesnt have to be perfect as once colour sanded and mopped it will take out alot of little discrepencies.

Did you get advice from a paint supplier on the primer and top coats? ie: type of compatible paints, as when i originally prepped my '99 spec bumper, i used a rattle can primer in several layers after rubbing down each time to get as smooth as possible, then when i took it to a professional to get it finished, he reckoned he would have to rub down and re-prime as the base coat may not be compatible with the rattle can primer.

What combination are you using?

Cheers

Graham

I'm watching this thread with eager anticipation Vini. Good work mate. ;)

TBH Graham I dont have a clue about the combination mate. My friend who is helping and supplying all the stuff got the paint from a local company and yes I can confirm they are compatable.

The paint has had its last coat now and looks OK. it does need some hours of flatting and all that. But looking good.

A few update pictures: Some are repeated but this shows the stages its gone through:

No one has picked up on the bonnet hanging on the wall yet? It might be for sale soon as I have decided not to use it. FG the one I got off Steve Black Magic.

Well the car is almost ready. The painting and flatting is done all there is now is the compound and polish. It saw daylight today for the first time in a week. Had a few misshaps. I sprayed the front panel, mirrors, front bumper and targas but forgot to clean out the moisture /regulator and the finished result is horrible. There are loads of little specks all over these parts and there is no time to fix them before JAE. So they will have to do:rolleyes:

But the car itself is looking fine. TBH I am very pleased with it.

So here are the last pictures before you can see it at JAE:
