I've been umming and arring for a while now about what to do.

I'm 27, i'm still living at my parents after my ex sucked me dry of every penny i had unintentionally as i was trying to help her sort her finances out.

I have a couple of loans that have 2 years to run and my outgoings have been nearly 90% of my salary each month mainly due to the 350 miles a week i have to drive to work.

I run the scorpio to and from each day with the zed only being run twice a week. I never have any time to finish off the jobs i start on it and my life is hectic.

I'm paying 1000 quid a year on insurance, i've never once used the nitrous on the car since i bought it and as much as i love it and the fact it always puts a huge smile on my face not only the drive but you guys on here/meets i have to admit defeat.

My ex pretty much ruined what i enjoyed about the big shows last year and i haven't been to any this year mainly due to bad memories and the amount of work left to do on the car to make it the dream showcar i've always desired is looking further and further away.

The housing market is coming to a rock bottom and i know it's about time i get on the properly ladder before it starts going up again next year.

The zed in its present state is probably not worth much more than 3-3500 quid, if i break it for parts it looks more like 4-5k purely on the masses of decent components fitted to it.

It kills me to say it but she has to go :(

I'm compiling a list of parts on the car which i will put up on here for you guys to pick through ( and if you look in my rides section there's alot of nice stuff, nearly £12,000 quid in parts spent on it via the previous owner)

If i get enough response to warrant breaking her then i will. If not then i'll have to take Zena off the road and cover her for the forseable future because it's not worth selling her for peanuts as an unfinished project.

I've tried to warrant the cost to myself but i just can't any more, bloody gordon brown and his stupid country he's destroyed :(

I'll still try to come to the local meets but it won't be the same without my zed

Sorry to hear that mate. I went through a similar thing when I was in my early 20s. Now approaching 30, I'm quite stable and reasonably well off. It will get better and believe you me, it makes you stronger.

I went through periods of severe depression about my money situation. It sucks, but you'll be fine, hang in there.

If you do sell the Z, then I am sure you'll buy another, if you do break it, then you know who has first dibs on that spoiler. If you sell to someone else, then I'll come and lay a great big hairy poo on the bonnet of the Scorpio!! ;)

lol, you know what mate the first thing i thought of when i thought about breaking it was you and how i'd have a definate sale of the spoiler

Don't worry buddy you have first dibs :)

I'll be back at some point but i think i'll be going for the SWB next time when i do and i'll be going for something extreme under the bonnet this is just a temporary setback for me for a couple of years while i get myself grounded.

Good luck mate though which ever choice you have to make. It's a hard one I know, but you're doing it with your best intensions in the circumstance you're in.

Cheers matey, i've replied

Cheers buddy, it'll drive me mad not having anything sporty so looking toward something lightweight and small engine but fun that'll crack 40mpg on the motorway, diesal is out of the question because the price of it at the moment doesn't make it a wise choice.

Something like a VX220 2.2/Elise would do about 44mpg according to the clubs and i'd still be able ot attend the car shows with something i was proud of. MR2 MK2 GTi is also an option, i loved my old one.

I've got alot of choices to make in a short amount of time before my mot comes up next month

I wouldn't touch buying a house just yet mate. If you think prices are going up next year your very very wrong. Houses are only just on the decent and next year will see the first plumit in prices, you have anouther 2-3 years untill they hit rock bottom. Stay away untill they just start rising again.

Whatever you do you'll be alright though bud, hang in there.

as much as I hate to do it... I'd be interested in the rad, bracket, fan and unorthadox pullies...

I'm keeping a dibs list matey so you're going on now, when i've made my mind up i'll honour whatever people have asked for so you've got first refusal

It is an NA just so you know but the only thing different is the belts you'll need to fit a TT

bumper is nice for me if you do break, although it will be a shame if you do!

  • Author

Unfortunately someone's already go there first hon :( Bloody vultures the lot of you

I don't want to break it but i get nearly twice the value of the car back and the mot/tax is next month so more expense before i sell it if it were to be sold as a stand alone car

Why not get rid of the scorpio and get yourself something much cheaper on fuel and insurance ? Would certaintly help with monthly costs, although if your after a lump sump of cash then thats no good I guess.

Edited by Yowser

Nick sorry to hear this i know youve been taking things a bit tough recently. its up to you what you want to do at the end of the day. there'll always be Zs in the market waiting for a loving owner such as yourself to come along, and as an owner of more than one Z perhaps youll find it easier to move this one on. im sure whatever you decide to do will be the right thing.

Really sorry to hear that such a nice motor could be cannibalised... but if you must, I might be interested in the cooling hoses, fuel lines, brake lines and the willwood stuff...

I might even be after a whole gearbox...

The scorpio isn't even 100% mine it's part my dads so even if i moved to nottingham soon i couldn't take it with me, the zed is limited to 5000 miles per year so i'd be spending even more buying another car.

I'm just trying to get my monthly outgoings and debts wiped out so i can start again.

I'll probably end up with another one at some point just not for a couple of years till everything's sorted and i clear my debts. Call it an insentive :)

It's the sad state of the market buddy, i hate doing it after the amount me and the previous owner have put into the car.

Cooling hoses, fuel lines, brake lines are yours (first dibs if i break) but the willwood is already dibbed but i'll give you secondseys :)

Gearbox i'm planning on putting everything together for a manual conversion for someone so i'll see if that sells first then you can have dibs on the gearbox

Nick

sorry to hear bud,i was in similar financial difficulties a couple of years ago,had to take my zed off the road sat in garage for nearly two and a half years, bloody difficult not being able to drive it,decided not to sell what would you get for it in current climate anyway , hopefully be back on road this summer, life can sometimes throw up the unexpected, hope some luck around corner for yah bud

Thanks Twinz, it's only a temporary blip :)

If i had the space i'd do it but i haven't and the car will sit there rotting away wasting money. I have a fresh start ahead of me, someone special i want to be closer to as they're currently 20 miles away and the amount of miles i'm clocking up its costing a fortune. She loves the zed but if i means i get to spend more time with her and have my own place then it makes sense.

Sorry to hear your situation mate. The zeds got me in alot of dept too:headvswal

If you decide to break her i will be interested in your shiney engine bay parts and maybe the Nos

Really sorry to see this mate, I know how you feel though. Hope all works out well for you though.

I might be interested in a few bits.

Front Bumper,

Possibly the viper wings

Possibly the Koyo too

Let me know if you decide to break mate

too many zeds going to the wall lately.

depending on what i decide to do with mine regarding my re-build i may be interested in the manual conversion parts

cheers

good luck m8
