Can't decide....Z jaunt to France again?

Feel like going for another random long drive in the Z. France is the easiest option as per usual. Can't get a better combination of lack of traffic, scenery and good roads anywhere else in the world almost! LOL

Considering going out tonight on the Ferry over to Caen, then drive through the Normandy countryside tomorrow. Stop off with some of my French friends for lunch near Le Mans then head back and drive up the Cherbourg peninsular to Cherbourg itself before taking the fast-cat back to Portsmouth.

Weather looks reasonably favourable, but, I am starting to run out of cash! I can afford it no problem, I just have the US to watch for as I'm off to California next month. That's going to cost me quite a bit. Already shelled out over £1,000 and I haven't even booked any accommodation yet! After my over budget spend on the Z this year by a good couple of grand, not sure I can justify it! I'm also considering Z fest too, so another longish distance.

i cant see the pics Si, is that the massive bridge? i'd love to drive across that, i cant remember what its called.

No, but I think the bridge you're talking about is the HUGE Pont de Normandy bridge as you head out over the Seine driving out of LeHavre? I'm certainly not going as far south as the Mallau bridge either! LOL

yeah thats the 1 Si, i'd love to take the zed across that at some serious speeds

It's quite good fun that bridge. As you drive up to it, it feels like you're able to drive vertically up a wall!

Go for it Si, France is a Drivers Dream, Out the cities anyway. ;)

Oh I know, I've taken the Z over about 5 times now, just at a bit of a quandry that's all. I love France though, been over 20+ times. Drove down to the Vendée when I was 18! lol

Greeting from the English channel. Last bit of phone reception as we head away from the Isle Of Wight. Lovely clear night!

Any excuse to get out of coming to our SW meet:slap: have a good one;)

Ya what? Only been awa for a few days. Cracking day of driving today. French roads are as good as ever. Weather was perfect and the Z was great! Just got some reception off the coast. Took the fast-cat back from Cherbourg. Sailed out to Caen.

Definatly intend to go on a some sort of Euro road trip with the Slicktop. Enjoyed the one back in 2005, unfortunatly nearly everyone I went with is no longer on here anymore :(

Nice! I'm doing exactly the same thing on Sun. Hopefully going to get some nice pics of the zed too. Getting the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen and then driving south through France. It's going to be awesome!!!

They aren't that great I'm afraid. Spent more time driving and enjoying the roads etc than I did taking photos. Started off in Quistreham (Sea port of Caen), drove up the through the coatsal roads to Isigny Sur Mer, then up the Cherbourg peninsular. The Z of course ran perfectly.

I travelled over on the Mont St.Michel

I stopped off at a little place near Isigny and went to get some food. On my return found a number of people looking at my car. About 10 in total, but only captured these looking at it. First a man and his wife spent a good few minutes looking the thing over.

The roads....AS GOOD as ever, nice and empty and very pretty. Been going to France since I was about 8. Been some 20+ times and I always have a nice time over there, whether it be on a 2 week holiday or a 2 day jaunt in the car.

Bretagne. ;) She's a nice vessel too. I travelled on that on her maiden year in service. Used to do the Santander route before being replaced by the Val-de-Loire which has since been sold to DFDS. They have an all purpose vessel now operating that route called the Pont-Aven
