.....Are their any?

basically I need something 'cos my engine went pop a month or so ago whilst hooning it round snetterton due to oil starvation.

Don't want to invest the time needed to go dry sump really, So question is what is out there for the Z 'cos I can't find much. Want a quality baffled sump and some sort of apollo tank really.

Thoughts appreciated!! :)

TBH mate, i dont know of many people on here who undertake serious track work in their zeds apart from the occasional track day.

It may well be worth speaking to someone on one of the american forums such as TT.net, there may well be someone on there who may be able to give some tried and tested advice

Contact specialtyz.com They make a Larger capacity baffled sump for the VG. I've had a quote from them, but I cant find the details now.

I believe Jaffa has purchased one.

There is also the accusump option too, which many have had results with.

I do have the SZ sump, larger capacity, baffled and has trap doors. On top of that I've added extra oil return lines from the head back to the sump to aid drainage at high rpm.

Cheers for the response guys, any idea on the cost of the speciality Z sump including shipping/import fees? Is it a decent quality item jaffa? I've already looked at your pics of the outside...not sure on the gold :) lol.

Excuse my ignorance but what is an accusump?

Legrath: I'd be interested in your planned solution for the oil problem with your track zed build.

Thanks peeps!

the SZ sump is good quality, it's based on a stock item and they weld on the rest.

As for accusump, I suggest you search google as there will be loads of info. It's essentially a pressured container with oil in it. When your engine oil pressure drops too low, the accusump releases it's contents to help the engine maintain correct oil pressure.

Why not improve the original by welding in your own extra baffles, been done on loads of track cars, mate of mine did it to his E30,and old RS Turbo, always a good idea to run with more oil than normal in sump than needed when trackday running,1 extra ltr, sometimes more, could make all the difference, and it wont harm it,as its being thrown around in the sump on the corners,or drifting if thats ya fancy.

Cheers guys,

some good ideas there, I like the running with a bit more oil than usual and an accusump sound like a neat idea, do anyone know of anyone that has fitted one to their zed?

I shall do a bit more research. With the SZ sump, I guess I'd have to ship one from the US? Is there any UK suppliers.

Think I'm going for overkill oil wise. Have you got any more pics/details on your setup jaffa? . it sounds like a good one...pic of inside the sump would be nice and how and where have you done the extra oil return lines from the head?

Thanks!

(click the project pages to see what they did to it...they are also using an accusump sytem)

this zed is build for one purpose only: track racing (and apparently it's very good at it, as it has won many races and has set track records in Australia)

Absolutely. The UAS car and SPL car are really setting standards out there

On the VG I was planning on the SZ sump, with the possibility of adding an Accusump system if I find its needed.

SPL found an accusump helped, but did'nt completely solve the oil problems they had been having on some tracks. I believe they were running with the stock sump though.

The plan has always been to go with a modified VH45 (Nissan 4.5i V8) lump later on down the line, with a Dry sump system though.

Well I think I may also opt for the SZ sump, maybe we can save some money with a double order?

I've also been looking at the V8 option!...gonna see how long this engine lasts...will hopefully be longer than the one trackday the other one managed!
