I was just thinking about posting athread to get impressions on this subject. Have Labour driven us into this position or is it really worldwide?

Looks like a Recession is just around the corner. I cant say Im suprised.

BBC NEW'S - RECESSION LINK

Wondered how long before that word came up, I think the press make it worse! All they do is talk about the doom and gloom about the economy and it makes people more worried than they were which makes them spend less which makes the problem worse.

A recession is only a figment of imagination. If you believe it to happen, then it will.

I think the economy is screwed up but your right and I think the press brainwash us into thinking it is worse than it is.

you are joking with that statment arnt you Si:confused: unfortantly i dont work within the soft cushion of a big company which absorbs current trends for a while and insulates this from its workforce as much as it can...ime self employed so kinda on the front line of consumer spending and let me tell you we have been sliding into this since the begining of the year but people have tried to ride it out with credit but the credit train has come to the end of the line for many...there will be no consumer confindence untill Brown is out of the big chair imho:mad:

What does all this mean? Am going to call the bank soon to see about getting a loan to uprate my evo (don't want to wait), is there more or less chance of me getting it?

The sooner we get a General Election the better IMHO. I know alot aot dont like the Conservatives, but you cannot deny as a whole we are as a country more financially stable with them in charge!

Yes i know im young, and i missed alot of the troubles that occured in the 70s and 80s, but all i remember is that last time Labour were in charge, they spanked all the countrys money up the wall (and history has repeated itself) and it took the conservatives a fair while to sort it out again.

The sooner Brown and Labour go the better. How ANYONE can support labour after the shambolic way they have run the country, needs their head examined

Close your eyes and it will go away :rolleyes:

Ignor it and it wont happen :rolleyes:

deny it and you will be safe :rolleyes:

It wont work Si. :D:tongue:

I get paid well tho mate. I have to sell a car to do the mods, but with the market being the way it is it may take a while so think I will take a loan till it's sold. Is there more or less chance of getting, never had a loan before.

I made it through the last one and will do so again. Hope will not stop it happening as the labour mob have already destroyed this country. If you scratch an itch long enough it will bleed.

You've just proved the point. :) The whole reason the economy is slowing down is due to a slight dip in house prices. (house prices have peaked in the economy)....and a boredom with the current government. This has promted the media to scare monger with headlines such as 'are we heading for recession'? People are now expecting a recession and it will happen.

What happens then? People then spend less, the economy slows down. The headlines are then 'we are in a recession'. This pushes the economy through the floor.

I'm not saying ignore it, that can't be done, but the main reason it happens is because people expect it to happen. So my point being, if the country expects it to happen, it's inevitable that it will.

I was only being satirical Si.:) BUT! like Bri said those on the front line of business will be the first to fall so lets watch and hope it doesn't happen.

I'm not doubting that at all and I feel sorry for those that do. But as I said, the reason the recession is heading our way is because we've been scare mongered into it. You know how quick everyone is to fill up with fuel if there's been a shortage scare, well, the same happens here, just in reverse.

Point taken. But IMO it will take a bit more than scare mongering to create a recession mate? I do see where you are coming from though.

im with funki on this, i watch the money programme at lunch time and they basically said the same, meadia is leading us with headlines, people panic, they stop spending, people lose work cause of it and son the ball starts to roll

i do feel sorry for people who may get caught up in it all but IMHO house prices (which started all this) couldnt keep going up, they would get to a point where a council estate house would be in the region of 3-4-5-600 thousand, it gets beyond affordable

Unfortunately it has already started.

Just look along your local high street and see how many shops have shut.

How many pubs,garages etc.

It dosen't matter who or how it started, it has.

So batten down the hatches and pull in your belts.

Unfortuntely a change to Conservative may well not help.

Darrell

It's a chain reaction, started by people tightening their belts...why? Because we are told that we might be heading that way. The only way then is down. It's the touchpaper to the whole thing.

As I said, bloody sensationalism by the press!

the last 5 or so years of conflict in the middle east has cost the country so much money you cant even imagian the numbers:mad: and labour keep borrowing off peter to pay paul so we save face with the rest of the world, they dont give a flying fvk about the human costs...they just need to keep inventing ways to generate more funds in the form of steath taxes, even down to parking fines,we have these to fund councils because gov wont release funds needed to maintain the local infrastructures because the "sand" campain is crippling our economy.. and to add insult to injury today there was a comercial to sponser a dog!!!!!! fvking pensoners have to decide whether to eat meat or turn the fires on and they want us to sponser a fvkin mangy old mutt by sending money:rant::rant:,,,i better finnish here before my computer goes through the window, "find me a happy place-find me a happy place-find me a happy place"

and whats "Bullshitter" Browns advice:

"Don't waste food"

FFS man, get with reality!
