Can I replace the early type rear lap belts with the later type 3 point rear belts?.

I just had this done, they just drilled holes in my rear quarter light panels and I got some second had uk rear panels all in cost me about 100quid

Yes, the bolt holes are behind the quarter light panels and seat side panels, you can replace the panels as "Funki" says but I just drilled the holes in the quarter light panel(it's 'marked' on the back for the position of the hole) and filed the top edge of the seat-side panel down so that the belt runs smoothly between the joints. Took me a couple of hours to do the conversion, hardest bit was removing the tail-gate struts - get help 'cos it's heavy!!!!! Only other advice is make sure you get both parts of the 3-point belt as the buckle on the lap belt is slightly different and doesn't always lock securely.
