Reason I ask is that one of my front wheels has developed a slight flat spot on the inner part of the rim. Not noticable from the outside, but I am getting mild vibration around 70mph through the wheel and is difficult now to balance.

Because my wheels are forged not the cheaper cast type, the flat spot can be rolled out quite successfully.

The guy I spoke to here says it's an easy job on my rims, especially where the deformity is.

Just wondering if anyone's used them?

The guy that refurbished my rims doesn't have the facility to go into that detail with them unfortunately. So found these guys on the internet. Seemingly not many out there that will repair wheels, just refurbish.

i was going to use the ace mob ages ago but after a couple of enquiries with local garages i found there was a small outfit local...so no postage costs...you might be best off asking around local mechanics etc and hopefully find someone tucked away in a industrial unit 5 mins from your door

yep i used them lot in scotland

Be prepared for a long wait, i waited 2 MONTHS. Well at least they got the job done but having to drive around on one odd wheel was starting piss me off big time.

Ive got a pic of the wheel they repaired if ya wanna see it?

Yeah sure thing. What did you have done? 2 month wait takes the piss really.

I emailed the alloy wheel repairers at the end of May (Carnwath Scotland) to ask if they could repair this alloy. It took a month for a reply but he did say he could repair it saying "if i've got the money, he likes a challenge". I declined his offer but you've got to give him credit for his confidence.:wack:

proper smacked it on a high kurb doing some dodgy sideways action haha.

They repaired it fine, they didnt need to touch the spokes only the rim.

Best course of action is to say you have a deadline and if the deadline is not met you want a 50% discount or something.

Yeah, i aquired the set of 4 alloys from a mate and 2 of them are split like that so i don't know if it was both fronts or a side impact, but the quality of them must be really poor as there is no flat spots to show the point of impact.

I have 2 sets of wheels at ACE at the moment. Should be collecting them on Friday. They have been there a while but i was in no hurry. It is only 1 guy who owns the place at present will post up the results when/if i get them on Friday!!

Hi Si

I had mine refurbed by alloywhellrepairs and it was one of those that had the total rim failure on the way swansea if you remember..... don't think I'd use them again !

Couldn't recommend them. Have posted previously bout them. Waited months for repair and it failed TWICE. Got it done properly locally in the end. Customer service diabolical, hardly ever answered phone and rarely replied to emails. Eventually offered me £10 for postage back. hmmmm

Good luck if you do use them

Did you manage to find anywhere local in the end? Reason I ask having just got back from protyre again, is that the inner rim on one of mine is no longer concentric. Need somewhere that can true it up.

HI Si

I had mine done by the Scottish crowd and it was after that one of the rims failed....

I for one wouldn't use them again

I have used A1 Wheel Renovation who are based in Wolverhampton and you can post your wheels to them. They dont have a website and are quite a small outfit. I think 3-5 guys, but when I checked them out and went down they explained quite a lot of garages use them by sending in their customers wheels for them to do. They had BMW deliveries in from dealerships while I was there, they were very open about everything and have been around for years now, also when I asked a friend to ask around he came back with the same company's name so it might be worth having a word.

I am saving up at the moment to have my Lexus mk1 GS300 rims refurbished 10in rears and 8in fronts.

All I have is a business card. They say:

Specialists in: Powder coating and wet painting, diamond turning and polishing service, 2 and 3 piece wheel repair and refurbishment, high power silver and platinum silver, pothole damage repair service. I can post their number if you want but have not as I am not sure if that would count as advertising.
