Just something I've noticed...and I'm not the first. 240Z, 260Z, 280ZX, Z31 and Z32 drivers will always give some kind of recognisional gesture when they see each other on the road....but 350Z drivers....NEVER do. It's something the US guys have noticed as well. A complete disregard for the entire Z marque. I am sure most of them don't really know the Z heritage as the Z33 is too new and many that buy them don't appreciate or know about the Z car range. It's no real loss as I've never really liked the Z33, but I'll always acknowledge it as a Z car.

I am sure that in about 10 - 15 years time when most of the remaining examples have fallen into Z enthusiasts' hands will there be a change.

I know that sounds scathing as we have a few Z33 owners on here, but in general, there is no patriotism toward the Z car range from them.

thing is they aint bought their car because of heritage, they have bought them because of status and its the cool thing to have, rather flash and good for posers.

like you said Si, eventually now prices are coming down, you'll find they will probs go the same way as the 300zx, with a select group of people choosing to own them.

a 350z parked next to mine when i was at the jet wash, i tried to start a convo with him but he wasnt interested, when i left him for dead later in the day he wouldnt look over so i could laugh in his face when we got to the next roundabout either.....lol

Good point Si, as im driving around if i see anything Z i give a flash of lights or just a nod, skylines, 200's', even 100's basically most of them and supras etc, but 350's just seem to look past as though you are not there, sure a few have replied, but most dont. Either way ours are quicker.............

Got to say I never nod or falsh my lights at anyone now. I did it to a 300 owner and you could see he was thinking "whats that flaming retard flashing me for"

so i nay bother anymore!

i have noticed the exact same thing Si. i think its because the 350z is aimed at a different market - i believe it's aimed at the Audi/BMW market to appeal to professionals, salesmen, etc. which it does very well. one parks near me sometimes at work, and once we both pulled up and got out at the same time. he looked over at me as if to say: "heh ive got a 350 i bet you wished it was yours", i glanced at mine, glanced at his, and glanced at him as if to say "mate, i wouldn't wash my 300's arse with yours."

350z - nice car, not broken into the family yet ;)

Dave's hit the nail on the head.

The 350Z is not bought by Nissan-Z enthusiasts but by people in the Audi TT/BMW Z3 etc. market.

i.e. posers!

Hey guys before most of you had your Z32s The owners of them were just the same as most of the 350owners are now

They used to look at me if I flashed them as if I was a bit of shite (spoz that leaves me open to a bit of abuse on here)

Then the Z32 price came down to and into the enthusiasts market and all is friendly( I still look like a bit of shite though)

This will happen with the Z33 but hell there are a lot of them about

I have noticed this. Not on every occasion but now and again. I would like a 350Z next and if I get one I wont respond to old nissans either. Bloody riff raff.:rofl::slap:

I was on a road trip through France a while back, saw no 300`s at all and only one pretty mean looking blacked out 350 on the ring roads of Paris and to his credit, he honked and flashed his hazards, though he could have been trying to attract the attention of the missus, lol.

Unfortunatly this does seem to be the cause most of the time...

I once got a wave from a 350z owner....................quite supprised at the time, I hope he was'nt gay...........

I have to admit, I don't give give 350 Z drivers the time of day on the roads.

At meets I'll talk to a 350 owner all day long, But then as already mentioned the majority of 350 owners are not enthusiasts, the minority of the Z32 owers are not enthusiasts. Previous models of Z's are always enthusiasts, why else would you buy a 20+ year old car, especially when they are worth more now than they were when new.

Like everyone else says, the 350z is just a modern sports car that's sold well.

I think it's partly Nissan's fault for not aiming the marketing at informing a 350z driver of the racing heritage and previous cars in the z range when they buy the car in the first place

When all's said and done the 350Z is a very nice looking sports car. Its agressive stylish and like Nick said it has a good heritage so its no wonder that some snobs drive them and I have no doubt as time goes on they will probably inherit the position that the 300ZX has now?

I wonder what type of owner the 300 had when it was new?

i'm sure the original 300zx owners were ****s too... cmon the zx was sooo much more expensive than what the 350z is today and was so much better and modern than the z31 before it...

(not that the 350z is any better than the 300zx mind you!!)

I have to disagree with you there because when i got my first Z32 you were still paying around £16K for a tidy one and with inflation that would mean round about £22k to £24k by todays money. Yet people where sound. + I joined the Zed club and rubbed shoulders with all the 240 boys like Mike Feeney and Luke Borg etc. Also at £36k New the z32 was aimed at the Porsche 911 driver and would have been more like £60k in todays money. It was aimed at performance car enthusiasts.

The 350Z is aimed more at what used to be the Capri/ Opel Manta brigade which are people more interested in image than performance and their in lies the problem. Snotty trendies who think they are big fish in their little pond and not actual performance car enthusiasts.

The same people that buy 350z's buy high street designer lables and think that a lable shows they are better than those who don't. Bit like 3 series BMW drivers.

The other thing to remeber was that the 300zx was limited to 1500 UK units which also made it exclusive. It's only plumitted in price since we have been deluged with Jap imports.

PMSL. I would like a 350Z and own a 3 series. :D But not an M3 though, which would have been a better example I think? My 323i is without a doubt the best all round car I have owned.

You hit the nail on the head with your last statement Mark. A more obvious example is the more widely known Skyline. I remember the Skyline as being the (flagship) for want of a better description? of Nissan's fast cars and the chances of owning one were similar to that of a porsche or Ferrari but now you can pick one up for under 3K.

Hey Viniboy you have just proved my observation that the 350z is owned by the same type of person who drive 3 series BMW's.:rofl::rofl:

I personally think clothes lables should be inside the garment and not on the pockect out side.

Bring back flogging

Got to say mate. You are right. Do these people that wear the label on the outside really know how stupid it looks. But unfortuantely the human race will always be infected by exhibitionists. There is nothing wrong with showing off now and again but some take it to and beyond the limits of tolerance. Big brother springs to mind here. Still what would life be like if we were all the same?? :):)

My ex always had Beemers, 5's and 7's. Don't get me wrong I think BMW's are really good cars. The people that by them new though are generally that far up there own arse you can only see their feet.

Agreed...:bow::cool:

What next though? The 4x4 crew are going to need something else now. I can see the Beemer being the possible favourite alternative??

Gotta agree with Si on this one I`m afraid 1:rolleyes:

350Z was aimed at a different crowd from us Zed nuts. It may get there tho ?

Also, labels only exist so as you know what way to put your T-shirt on when you wake up after a night on the lash !

Viniboy,

tut tut, on you ! :slap:

Not all of us 4x4ers like Beemers ! Or Fiesta`s ?

Be honest, look at the pic and tell me you wouldnt like to just do it ?

V8, crawler gear with the Diff lox on ???

The wife told me to leave it ! !!:D:dance::nana2:

Alan.................

Hold up guys!! I actually take some of this back!! I met a 350Z owner at the petrol station earlier today, not only did he wave, but he drove round and had a nice long chat with me. He's from the Birmingham area and his father has a white UK spec Z32 which has one a few show and shine or best in show awards Zclub I think. Anyway, he wants rid of his 350 and he's after a good UK spec Z32!! Says he prefers them!
