removed rear wiper,

as looks too big, and car looks much cleaner without it.

not going to splash out on a re-spray/filler job at the mo,

just going to blank it off.

found this, http://www.screwfix.com/prods/18603/Electrical/Cable-Accessories/PVC-Grommets/PVC-Grommet-Closed-Pack-of-100#

just wondered if anyone else done it, or knows the correct size rubber grommet to replace the hole.

Ive got the grommet where the hole was on the boot from taking the windscreen wiper out, although Im sorry i do not know the size of it

you can just see it to the left. I did it as a temp measure but can not justify the expense when in all honesty it looks ok with the grommet!

its a bloody big grommet over 20mm i'd say and yep the one from the boot fits but wouldnt you get rain n spray coming into your boot if you take that one off?

Do you mean there is a spare grommet already in the boot you can transfer to the top? where the wiper was?

yea obv if you remove the gromet, you will have a hole there, which water would obv go into your boot.

if you leave it in they are water tight tho. if you look on basic Ford Fiestas, they do it.

as the base model are not advance to have a wiper, so to save money stick a gromet in. if your worried about someone ripping it out, could always glue it in.

nope its not a spare...but its just the right size for the hole left behind when pulling off the wiper...its a case of measure that one and see if you can get a match..i've been looking for one for ages now....but failing that i guess a patch could be knocked up to cover the hole under the spare wheel if you do rob / use that one....its out of sight so doesnt have to be pretty or anything

ahh great!

so theres another gromet under the spare (lets face it dont really see/use that!)

il swap em over tonight. Hope its a good fit! and doesnt leak!

I just used a standard 20mm rubber grommet then used black silicon to seal it and hold it in place. Seems to work fine for me, no leaks :D

splparts in the u.s sell a nice little machined annodised fitting that goes in the hole, its cheap, fits perfectly and all but makes that hole vanish

Got a link buddy ??

get to ya local plumbing merchants or b&q, you want a tap hole stopper, not sure if 15 mil will be big enough, if not get a 22mil one, paint it silicone it, job done

but looks much better getting it done properly, any body shop will do it, would prob only cost £90

Excellent link this as I'm gonna get rid of my rear wiper soon... If you look at all the other sporty stuff out there, Aston Martin's, Ferrari, New Nissan GTR they don't have a rear wiper... Would save some weight too and bring the 300 more up to date...

No 20mm is not the right size! Got one of those and it just fell through, to small! Went to Halfrauds today and the do a 25mm one which just sits on there but still to small for my liking as the end of the bung only gives you literally 1mm coverance of the hole... I think 30mm would be the right size but places like Halfrauds and B&Q don't sell them... Gonna have to try a local plumbing merchants i think...

there are 2 floorpan bungs which are the right size when removing the wiper...one is under the spare wheel and the other under the carpet in the passenger footwell....ask around if anyone is breaking a zed to send you one in the post

Cheers Uno, that's really useful to know.. Will have a look tomorrow, thanks buddy... ;)

got the one in the spare wheel well on mine,

workd a treat, and looks much better than the wiper unit!

I'd prob say the first one mate as the one I got from Halfrauds has an outer diameter of 25mm and just covers the hole by 1mm but the first ebay item you've listed looks like it will do nicely seeing as the outer diameter is larger! I'll give it a go and let you know!
