My car already came with an aftermarket steering wheel, so unsure as to what was removed to fit it. The reason I ask is that I am trying to re-connect all the cruise control stuff.

Now I've discounted fitting the 94+ cruise control paddle and I'm going to mount the buttons from the series 1 somewhere.

The problem is, I have no idea what any of the wiring looks like for the cruise control. I don't know what the wiring is like at the back of the stock steering wheel, nor do I know how it fits to the slip ring.

I took off the cowling earlier and couldn't identify any CC stuff.

Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! LOL

I am sure Topless might be able to shed some light on it.

Hi mate

I did the exact same thing myself today. I bought an original steering wheel and it wont gon on the car I have an S1 and when I take the momo of and the boss it looks completely different to my steering column. The wheel has 3 rings of copper behind it and is flat. My steering column has a socket and a black plastic peg that fit inot the back of a wheel?

I dont have any photos but the back of the steering wheel s1 has a copper plate with grooves in it and these grooves link up with 3 copper pins on connected to the white plastic part for the indicator stork. From what it looks like Si you have all the avaliable CC wiring (Yellow connector with green & red wiring connected to it but i think your indicator stork block part is different or the same as mine. I can get you a photo of mine on monday if you like. Cant do much about it now as ive got 2 much on this w/e

Arrr right. I had wondered if something wired into that. But I couldn't see any open ended connectors there that you'd plug anything into. Mind you, I couldn't see too well as the lighting was poor.

Whenever you have the time, that would be great. Cheers mate.

Hey Si

If its like mine you will need to remove your steering wheel where you will find a socket for the wiring for the CC buttons and the horn press. Its on the black fascia that you can see screwed into the white indicator stalk holder.

The steering wheel with the copper rings wont go on my car and mine is definately an S1.

The little connector on the Left of the column is the cruise control/ horn loom. Hope these photos help you with your question. Cheers

Thanks Adam. I'm still a little unsure as to what is what. Reason being is that yours is an N/A and therefore doesn't have all te HICAS wiring. Obviously mine has a HICAS boss and has had the copper ring and contacts removed, so not sure on the wiring behind that.....also, that last photo doesn't work.

A belated Happy Birthday by the way. :)

Interesting. I'm now wondering if the large black connector on mine under the wheel contains not only the hicas wiring, but also the CC wiring...?

Can anyone help with this? Really want to know what I am looking for. What wires I need for the button pad.

this interests me alot been the reason i keep putting off getting a new steering wheel. where you planning on relocating the buttons to

I am planning on siting them just below the dash binnicle on the left hand side. I will cut a half shape out of the top of the lower trim panel. It'll be recessed slightly. Want a 'factory-look'. Little bit hard to discribe without photos.

I use CC all the time on my other car. When I am on the motorway, it cuts down on stress! LOL

To get anywhere from where I live, you need to use the motorway.

iv only used it a few times but to be fair the car has been off the road alot since i got it so most of the longer journeys were in my bmw, i wouldn't imagine moving them will be to much trouble is there not a wiring diagram somewhere for the zed?

  • Author

Moving them won't be a problem. I just need to know which wires under the column are for the CC switch panel.
