oh and it does'nt do it on tick over, only between 1000-1200rpm then dissapears

i got the full 120k kit off dan (DTA) plus plugs and a new bottom crankshaft pulley, so basicly everthing

Get a long screwdriver and see if you can get an exact location of the rattle by listening for it?

done it mate, i can actually feel the rattle with my hand and its deffo from behind the cambelt cover

i had this on mine and it was the belt loose and hitting the casing of the cover! mine was a failed tensioner:headvswal

Had exactly the same thing on mine after a cambelt change and turned out to be the fan hitting the plastic cover because one of the washers on the viscous* fan was missing.

could be the vvt springs...but check with duffer first mate incase you get the wrong advise

Try slackening off a few of the bolts that hod the timing belt cover on, they are allen bolts with built on rubber washers but sometimes due to age the rubbers perish, when this happens the bolts can be overtightened and in some cases the timing belt may foul the covers, if i were you id get mjp to get you some new cam cover bolts see if that fixes it befor you have it all taken apart again.

had the tensioners done at the same time as the rst of the work

i'll give that a shot too, they do look pretty perrished so it could be that, i'm gonna speak to duffman and see what he says..............thanks for all the replies

its running fine though and sounds spot on when its ticking over, like i said its only between 1000-1200 rpm when its sat still so it could just be them little bolts, the covers coming off anyway for painting and i've been out in it all day today kickin its head in up and down the A1, lol.

Dont do nothing till you talk to Andy !!!:nono:

Just Out Of Interest, Is This Cover Easy To Take Off, I.e Is There Anything Else That Needs To Come Off

He's probably left a ring pull off a stella in there.

Sure it will be something simple as Duffer usually does a good job.

Loads needs to come off to remove the cam covers, you can change most of the bolts once you whip the fan off but to remove them its water pipes boost pipes ptu and a few other bits i forget.

Alan.............

is the rattling behing the driver or passenger side cam cover, the passenger side one comes off quite easy but the drivers side one needs the metal water pipes removing.

a bit of both i've noticed its on both sides so i'm gonna try and slacken the bolts off and see if its that, if so i'll just use some washers til i can get some new bolts

Im suprised andy hasnt popped up in this one yet, he must be busy as hell. Best to not touch anything till he appears.

yeah i'm sure thats all it is Jimmy, i've sent him a text and a p.m but i do'nt wanna pester him too much cos he's very busy

offer him a reach around he'l be on the case in seconds.

i cant even get 1 of them off Andrea so he's go no chance, pmsl
