im thinking about some sideskirts - as ive never had them on my Z before i need to ask, how much do they 'lower' the car by? i ask because im pushing my luck just getting into the driveway and im worried i'll ground the sideskirts if they come down below the standard skirts too much.

My drive is a very steep gradient and the front bumper is the problem not the skirts. In fact looking at your sig, I would imagine skirts will be only as low as your bumper.

bugger i was hoping you'd all say not to fit them. so ive gone and bought them. so its your fault, so if you each chip in £50 then we'll call it fair :D

there are some points under the car that will still be lower than most side skirts you can fit.

Most sideskirts are'nt much lower than the standard sides, they just tend to change shape of the skirt area instead. If you look underneath of a car with skirts fitted the bottom is usually in line with the sill lip underneath

ok thats cool guys thanks for that. what about jacking up though? i only have the standard wind-up jack which fits in the groove going along the bottom of the car. will the sideskirts prevent me from being able to use this method?

^ bump this question ;)

now i have the sideskirts fitted ive just suddenly realised that the sill for the jack is hidden. :o what are people's solutions to lifting the car up when it has sideskirts (and i mean on the road not in a garage ;) )?

small trolley jack in the car, i used to have to drive my zed onto blocks to get it up high enough for the jack to fit under

Glad, you can get off the drive as I've just seen this thread and I can't get off my drive as the skirts ground!!!

lay a few thin bits of wood on the jack place under the car in the strongest positions possible then jack up (wood will spread the weight so not all on 1 small point) then sustain with an Axel stand!

Although i can still get my Jacking points with my Sideskirts on

They go over the sill lips ? They shouldn't do, You could cut them back from underneath so you can get to the jacking point. It would'nt be noticable.

If you get a low height trolley jack then you can jack the front up on the chassis beams (stay as close to front of the beam as you can, before it curved upwards).

For the rear you can jack from the subframe mount in front of the rear wheels.
