Be far easier just to get a HICAS eliminator. It's quite a big job removing and refitting a subframe.

You would'nt want to do it just to get rid of hicas, as Si says there are easier ways to do that, hicas removal is more of a bonus side affect.

In terms of bushings, it has the same number of bushings. Although the rear toe arms are fixed, rather than attached to a Hicas rack and dont wear or cause issues like the hicas arms.

Its main benefits are the Final drive ratio change, followed by weight savings.

Pic shows my NA rear subframe prior to stripping for shotblasting and powercoating. The red circles are the rear toe arms that differ from the problematic TT toe arms that connect to the Hicas rack.

if you were to do the conversion then I would recomend fully stripping and polybushing the new subframe before refitting....and that might be something to consider even if you decide to keep the TT subframe. There are 18 bushings in the rear subframe and multi-link arms.

cheers guys, thought putting a na subframe on would have got rid of most of the crap, wil look into it further

Allan has already seen and replied to that thread snowy

oops

well hes got 2 threads to do a search on now, lol

how much lighter is the na subframe compared to a tt one with hicas removed?

AFAIC they are virtually identical.

thanks, just checking i wasn't missing a trick :)

you will save weight on getting rid of the rest of the hicas crap, im sure someone more sober and knowledgeble will be along to tell you what weight you will save

There is a weight difference between the TT subframe, Diff, Driveshafts..etc and the NA setup......what the weight difference is, Im not sure though.

Heard figures between 30 and 60kg spouted before on U.S forums, but not entirely sure about them....but bearing in mind the TT and NA vehicle total weight difference is 90kg, and the turbos and intercooler pipework...etc only weigh quite a bit less than half that.

I dont know how I could weigh the complete rear ends though, I only have 50kg scales.

be interesting to know but no big deal. I imagine the diff is lighter, I think I was reading about the UAS race 300zx and they used a skyline diff to save nearly 20Kg alone!
