Hey Guys

Need some advise.

As most of you would know driving a zed on a day to day basis can really be costly.... So Im looking for a second car that will serve me well. What the car needs is the following

needs to be big'ish 4 door car with a bit of pull

Most miles will be motorway "Comfy cruiser"

A few nice extra's

Business appeal as clients will see and drive with me in the car

£4000 budget

What I thought of was a Volvo 2001+ s40 T4...

They have around 200bhp and have lots of extra's

Also bit of power and not to costly.

What I want to know is.... What other cars can you guys recommend?

And where to look. Honestly most searches for a S40 T4 came back with really high milage or the previous non facelift model.

Any advise would be great thanx.

Nico

Just one suggestion bud, go for the s60 t5 rather than the s40 t4, as the t4 has quite alot of turbo lag, but the t5 does'nt :) I test drove quite a few t4's a couple of years back and i was quite disapointed, however i owned a t5 for about a year and it was absolutely superb ;) :D

Thousands of business users clock up millions of miles happily driving Ford Mondeos. £4000 will buy you a 2002 ish Ghia or Ghia X. with less than 100000 on the clock.. The 2l petrol and diesel engines are both superb. I have a 130 bhp diesel. Its quick enough, reliable and does 46 to the gallon. I did 350 miles in it on Monday with total ease and comfort. Even towing a car transporter only used £45 of fuel. And as its a Ford everyone has parts for it and they are cheap to service. Its an accepted "business car"

Id defo recommend a Vauxhall Vectra (Old shape)

perhaps something like this these are actually quite rare and can go for a fair bit of cash and go like the clappers!!

Plus its about half your budget but if you want something newer then so be it :) just contributing

Not being sold by me or anything just iv always liked these personally

Thanx Guys

I know this sounds silly. But in my line of business the make of the car is everything.... I do close protection security for some well off people and if I turned up in a Mondeo or even better Vauxhall... They would not be impressed.

Yes Rich people can be shallow.

I think the Volvo S60 T5 sounds like just the car.

Now just to find one with lowish milage

Any ideas where to look other than Auto Trader and Piston heads?

What about a 5 series BMW? They don't hold their price as well as the 3 series, so a lot of car can be had for the money, but it looks more impressive than a 3?

That was a very good price for that year 5 series considering no leather and not manual... well done that man.

Guys think you are all going to laugh.

But I walked into one of these auto super markets today had a look about inside and saw something completely diffrent to what I had in mind.

I bought a Nissan Navara 2.5td with 50,000 miles for £5000 Not bad for a 2004.

Lots of extra's such as leather ect. Plus looks pretty sweet too.

Ill post pictures later on. But I think this will do the job just fine and as a added bonus great for other weekend projects too.

I'd have to say Volvo T5 or BMW 5 series; or alternatively have you thought about a Jag S-type.......?

.......and responding to Steve's comment, wouldn't an anto 5 series be worth more than a manual? Executive cars like that are expected to be autos, surely?

Richard:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
