Remove glove box and most of passenger side trim, undo heater fan mount bolts, undo aircon box lines in engine bay and remove the plate and grommet, remove aircon box from car (fan can stay in but loose), remove plate behind the hole in the bulkhead where the loom passes through, remove loom....

It is possible to leave the aircon box connected and in the car still, so you dont need to regas it, but its very fiddly to do it that way.

i say possible.....I cant get the old loom out without removing aircon box, but paul@swz can.

If you do disconnect the aircon make sure you do it with plety of ventilation and keep away until the gas has cleared. R12 gas is not people friendly.

ofcourse if you disconnected the aircon when you pulled the engine then no need to struggle with the aircon unit left in.

as the engines out im thinking about replacing the engine loom

how hard is it to do i

its all disconneted and ive got the ecu out

Took me 4-5 hours with the engine in and a few posts on here and replies from Mr Duff  and that incudes disconnecting the aircon.

while your at it, just get shot of the aircon, that hhoge power sapping motor and the hooge aircon rad in front of the engine rad aint doing you any favours either

It's the engine loom we are talking about? If soo. Since the engine is out you can just cut the old loom in half. That way you can just pull the rest out from inside the car.

NEW ONE

Take a small flat screw driver and remove the wire clips from the white connector thing that goes inside the car. Remeber to take a picture so you know where the wires are supposed to go when reinstalling. Tape the wires that came loose to the wire. It's a bit fiddling to get the loom trough the hole.. Took me about an hour to replace when the engine was out.

It's best to be two people when doing this so one can pull from inside the car and one can puch the new loom in from the engine bay..

Thats a lot of connections to remove/reinstall!!! Probably quicker to remove the dash lol... The ECU connector is blue and probably has about 100 wires...

Not the blue one. There is also a white one. Thats the one he needs to remove wires on.. That's the one I removed beacuse I could not get it through the hole if not. The ecu connector goes through the hole if you push it in from the top of the hole and down. Just be carefull so you don't cut any of the wires because the edges around the hole can be a bit sharp. Could provide pictures, but something went wrong when renewing my membership and I haven't bothered to look into it.

Not difficult. First time I did it and it took a about 1 hour

Yeah I know there is also a white one - I know of several people trying to push the blue connector through and snapping it in half when trying to get it through though - is it worth it for a few more hours work?
