gonna do this tomorrow (hangover depending), what i want to know is, how do i get the pressure out of the fuel lines, got petrol all over the fookin place when i did the fuel filter lol

Disconnect the fuel pump with the engine running and let it die.... Connector is under the square metal plate in the boot...

Couldn't you just pull the fuseable link under the bonnet? That would have the same effect without the hassle of emptying the boot.

I unplugged the relay next to the accelerator pedal, some trim has to be removed IIRC.

then turn engine over until it fails to run.

the relay is green and is held on by a bracket which needs to be undone and turned around to be unplugged.

Correct and works everytime.

 

However, you may want to turn over the engine (with fuse removed) to empty the lines. Always use a rag/kitchen paper under the part you are disconnecting to catch the majority of any spillage.

 

BTW - the Fuel Pump relay is the one located closest to the engine block inside the small fuse box on the driver side (just in front of the brake booster servo).

 

Alternatively, connect the car to one of our ConZult Diagnostic Kits and disable the fuel pump via a click of your mouse! ;)
