show me ya painted Plenum..... opinions/suggestions/methods but NOT powder coating

sorry for all the new threads on painting etc and yes i know im the spam king but i still need a little help too now and again:(

just want some advice on painting the plenum and making it look nice and glossy although im not very fussy.

Was thinking of giving it a rough sand then painting with a cherry red hammerite paint but will it have a nice shine to it? could i use a laquor to finish it off?

Thanks.

p.s Its a diy so powder coating os out the question.

i've not yet seen a "painted" plenum that did'nt look like sh*t (I stand to be corrected though if anyone has examples). If you want it done properly, get it powercoated. it should'nt be expensive.

I stand to be corrected but I would think with the tempratures teh plenum experiances youd have a problem with teh paint not peeling off. I know there have been some issues in the past with chrome for teh same reason.

Powdercoating is not that expencive either.

oh. giza bell next time your down this way, Ill wander down to scotts with ya

Yep! Wot Dave said.

Home paint job + plenum = S**t

And as soon as you touch it you will scratch it.

IMO only of course;)

Right so has anyone had a plenum powder coated before if they have how much did they pay and where did they go?

I still recon a glossy hammerite plenum shouldnt peel off? Its the stuff you put on calipers and its tough no?

I'd have the casting finished removed and the plenum powdercoated silver or gunmetal grey.

Kinda want something a little special still, im really liking radrons engine bay simple but effective not too loud and not too subtle, but when you look undr the hood you know hes got something special in there :D

damn it i just picked my nose and its bleeding.....

Can i join in with some world class spamming aswell please

Hello mate,

There's a place not far from you who do powder coating, opposite side of the road from Tops tiles in southgate ;) No idea what they're like I'm afraid.

Sounds promising il have a gander 2mow. :D

So no one even has a rough price for powder coating?

take it to a furniture strippers first to get it dipped and stripped, it usually cost's about ten pound an alloy, so prob the same for a plenum

id imagine it would fair up better than powder coating... also could look uber cool! prolly silly expensive though. i sent my eibach springs off to this place on canvey island... he charged me a tenner to shot blast and powder coat them... bargain!
