i tried to clean my wheels like that once, it gets very hot and i nearly broke my fingers on the bolts of the split rims:slap:

Ingenius eerrrr more like idiotic:slap:

Its the same method the professionals use only the wheels are mounted on a large lathe (with an emergency stop button) the guy who used to polish my wheels worked alone though so if his arm gets dragged in by the machine he's fecked as there will be no-one there to push the button:slap:

I saw a young apprentice getting dragged in by a lathe in a turning/milling machine shop, not a pretty sight but we all got sent home:mac1:

I would of thought they would have progressed to something akin to a dead mans handle, I think the HSE would eat the employers alive after that accident!

I should have said this was 20 years ago.

Now i feel old:cry:

Also it was his own fault as he was operating the lathe with ripped overalls and the trailing rip got caught in the chuck.

You'd have to be off you head to do that, it's the kind of thing I can see Wozzer & Duffers trying tho.:rofl:;)

while off their heads

no different to me putting mine up on a lathe and spinning them up, actually imo he is doing it much more safely then i was as i was preasure turning mine!!! his are bolted solid to the hub.

Uuuuummmmmmm, nice finish but ive come this far in live, dont fancy loosing my fingers now !!

must be a keyboard worker then i do that sort of thing on a day to day basis

try polishing a hundredths of a tho out of a bore of 25 mm at 1500 rpm with some emery cloth .

looking at this reminds me of a story of a guy who worked at car factory....he had his little finger ripped off when pulling the excess swarf out of a pipe he was turning on a lathe....6 weeks later he went back to the shop floor with health and safety to explain how it happened....he said "put the lathe on".....and yep you guessed it....he stuck his newly re-attched digit in the pipe and bingo it got ripped off again right in front of the H&S man !!!

Snap or yank :D a mate of mine was telling me how he saw a worker clearing swarf with his fingers, swarf dug into his finger and then proceeded to unravel his tendon out of his finger:mac1:

Shortcuts in industry don't you just love them :D
