Hi, anyone tell me what the speed is at 4500rpm in 5th, my speed sensor gives up at around 110kph cos I passed PC Plod with camera on an A road at this speed - want to know how much s**t i'm in

Well I know that 3k rpm in mine is 95mph in 5th, but then I'm running 3.1 rather than 2966cc but I don't think it will make a great deal of difference.

110kph is only about 70 mph but I really can't imagine your car would be going that slow at 4500rpm in 5th ?.

118mph in an TT

110mph in a NA

Fingers crossed his camera came up with an error at the time!

115/6 approx mph in a TT..105mph approx in an NA, as final drive ratio is different.

The UK spec TT manual had gearing of 25.7mph/1000revs in fifth gear whereas the NA's were 23.4mph/1000revs.

Obviously different tyre/wheel sizes will affect these figures, as will expansion of your tyres at speed on a warm day!

Or he was eating a dohnut or whatever it is that traffic cops munch on in this country.

I wish the cop that I passed on Satuday was distracted. I lost my rag with a fast lane crawler doing 65 on the M11. She pulled into the middle lane and then started accelerating. Long story short I got my first ever points on my license and it was a close one. I got 3 points for doing 98mph. The strange thing is I wasn't even in my Z, I was in my beema :(.

OK Robbie, I want you to do this for me so you get an idea how much poo your gona be in.

Go out to a club, find the biggest hardest doorman there, find his girlfriend (or boyfriend) and in front of him slap her round the face.

Or you could just use your driving licence as toilet paper:slap:

Did he actually pull you over ?.

Because it he just had a camera and didn't actually come after you, I'm not sure he would have clocked you.

It was a van, so didnt come after me, reason speedo is knacked, goes up to about 100kph, starts wavering then drops back to zero, now awaiting summons to drop through door :(

You might be lucky and it was just a ANPR van checking for tax/insurance. Fingers crossed

Update - how accurate is sat nav for the speed? cos i just went out in car with sat nav - the kph on sat nav matched clock until clock goes wrong - switched to mph, opened it up to 4500 rpm and mph was exactly 100 - so might be under 100, fingers crossed

As others have said, 4500rpm in a twin turbo in top gear is quite a bit over 100mph mate.........

.......Even if you were doing "only" 100 you're still getting a few points and a fine if it was a speed-camera van that clocked you:(

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

how mch you gona sell it for when the ban comes through? lol

na seriously if you dnt get the fine within 2weeks your ok if it comes after 2wk then they cant do nothing , by law you police have to send the summons out within 2wks ;)

fortunately I have only a NA manual, which has different gearing for 5th gear than tubby and different diff ratio, so just praying now, dont want to lose licence and have to give up the zed

AQbout 2 week thing, only had car 3 weeks and not had V5 in my naame so might take them time to track me down, unfortunately, they do as I found out once b4 with MR2 tubbynot long after getting that one - one day I might learn my lesson :)))))))

Pay some Uni student to take the rap for you ;) :x: lol

p.s NA and TT gearbox ratios are the same. Only the Diff ratio is different.

Hi,

I was doing about 4500 revs on the M40 a few years ago, in my Z32 NA...When the cops stopped me they had clocked me at an average speed of 112.45mph over 1.8miles.

The result was a 56 day ban!...no points though!

this works trust me .!:D i have 15 points now but should be in the 20's.

short story im 500 short and my uncle is banned:slap:

ooh and you never learn for are mistake:tongue:

My mum doesn't drive anymore but still has a licence, she's 65. How believable do you think it would be if I got clocked doing 140 mph and said she was driving LMAO !!!
