It may make your car smoke if your turbo seals are on the way out, i would go for a cat back exhaust instead. keep the cats in place !

It will reduce the life of your turbos yes, but you have to weigh it up against the benefits.

You prolong the life of your turbos by having a turbo timer of letting the car idle for a few mins before shut off. If you drive flat out everywhere then yes it may well finish off your turbos, but if you only give it some beans once in a while it may well be ok.

All mods generally cause more wear to the components that you modify its the price you pay for more performance.

It doesn't really shorten the life of your turbo it just shows up what's already worn, no back pressure will suck oil through the seal if its worn, if its not you will be fine, chances are they will be worn

ive had a decat on all my cars except this 1, never had any probs with smoking turbo's , the only time i had a little smoke was when i used oil that was too thin and pushed by the seals, you could decat ad if you start getting smoke put ya cat back on

Decat does make a noticable difference on Turbo spool and response, but yes there is a risk to tired turbos of seal failure.....or unmasking already smoking turbos that just was'nt noticeable with the cats in place. Changing the PCV's at the same time can help reduce the risk.

please go into this more...

i did this on my S13, put a one way valve in the breather system,

so doesnt smoke when on idle..

Just looked up one of the polls on this subject, 80% said no problems after de cat.

great :)

only if you have a shit turbo on its last legs sounds like itl effect you.

hope i dont have a shit turbo :wack:

as i have said time and time again. If you can afford to risk it then do it... Bear in mind £2k should fettle it should it blow a turbo out.

I know thats an over estimate, but whilst the engine is out there is a pile of work that should be done, for ease more than anything. Alot easier to work on a 300zx while there aint no engine in there!

Do the searches, and you have been warned. So when you do get smoking exhausts at idle and no boost you'll know what it is!
