Right, typical im due to set of in 9 hours to head south for jap fest, thought i would make a weekend of it. So i went to fuel the Zed and on leaving the drive i heard a bit of a creak.

Nothing too unusual and it did do it once or twice the other day. Now i thought at the time and at first it was one of the targas moving a bit so i pulled over after a mile or so and refitted them.

However the creak didnt go away so i went into town, filled her up and pulled out of the petrol station and thought i better investigate so i headed home and pulled up into the front of the garage to have a look.

I cant see anything amis but when ever the left hand side spring is compressed this creak occurs, it is up and down thats creaking (lol) not any other direction. As best as i can see anyway.

So what do we think this is? Is it safe to drive? Or should i be leaving it at home?

Help guys!

Mine creaks too. I have looked every where and can not for the life of me see what it might be. I was advised that it was because its so low??? It creaks when I back off the drive and when moving slowly forwards. Its only when going slow though. Let me know if you find anything as I would love to get rid of the annoyance. I have sprayed the springs with WD40 and all around the bushes and suspension components but its still the same?:(

And its from the rear end ;)

Yep, its the tension rod bushes that creak, tends to stop when they warm up. If they are standard UK start saving for some adjustables. Or a 3 piece polybush for the standard arm

I'll go easy on the old girl for now then.

That could be top shock gaskets if they are worn or have not been refitted or that the top shock rubbers are worn. I refitted my shocks and put copper grease instead of the gaskets this seemed to solve my creak.

For now, :D

Those of us that have had zeds a while would also remember that the hatch latch is notorious for drying up and causing creaks. Open it, apply vaselene or grease to the pin part in the body and low and behold no more creaks!

And yes also the tension rods if the through bolt is not tight enough but that noise comes from outside!
