Is it better to use your Zed every day or now and again, I only live a mile away from work, will driving short journeys do more harm than good? I dont push her over 2500 revs, would it be worth getting a cheap runaround? what do you all suggest? The car is too nice not to drive everyday.:D

a mile from work ?..the engine wouldn´t reach optimum teperature in my opinion..so more harm then good...soloution, leave a bit earlier, take the long way and enjoy the ride :)

Find a longer route to work :D

Especialy while the weather is so good.

Darrell

mine is used every day for short journeys, albeit more than a mile.

i only use once in the week to go to work and at weekends, but thats purley because i have to drive a 70 mile round trip to get there and petrol costs take the piss to drive it everyday, so i have another car thats more economical, and im no expert but i think short journeys wear the engine.

i wouldnt use it for such a short journey mate. i was only 2 miles from my old workplace and it hadnt even reached temperature/pressure by the time i got there. plus it ruins your battery.

I do give it a bit more of a run on the weekends, may have to start cycling lol, it's hard though, especially in this weather, the roof's been off for the last 4 days.

If its only a mile i would walk. Should only take you about 15 min ;)

Agreed.....

......if I lived a mile from work I'd walk - I would not want to ruin any car by driving that short a distance each day.

Richard;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I used to drive to work every day, about 35 miles each way, the car was fine.

Petrol prices have caused me to get a more economical car to drive but I still have the Z which is going to be used as an occassional car.

Although I did bring her into work today, not good idea as it was raining and now I think MAF is fudged!! (Wont rev past 2500) It did this before and I managed to clean it out with some air duster!!

The Zed handled the 70 mile round trip for a whole year and a trip to the ring in Germany in December!! (PS I got a 10:30 lap time, not that I was timing it!;);) )

I work 2 miles from home and I have been driving the Z for the last 2 months but taking about a 7 mile long way round on the way home. Just bought a diesel for a couple of hundred but thinking about it now really short trips might be worse for a diesel!

Especially with diesel being nearly 10% more expensive as well

What ya wanna do is pump a constant flow of hot water through the engine coolant system then when your ready to drive its already warmed up, just like an F1 car...... maybe hook it up to your house boiler plumping system just a thought ;)
