if you open the bonnet the head on the right has bent valves

If you are still in need of some heads they still are for sale as the wheels i was going to swap them for where naff :cry:

Ok to try and make sense of it all.

 

You can take the heads off with the engine in.

However it would actually be quicker and easier if you took the engine out. That way you have much better access to the bolts you need to get to and much more space to work in, plus you can check / change other things while the engines out.

When you take the heads off in situ, is either turbo left attatched?

 

Yes, i left my tubs connected when removing the heads just undone them from the downpipe and lifted head, manifold and turbo as one.

I always thought turbo changing had to be engine out, or a hell of a fight.

I passed up a 'for peanuts' dead turbo s2 as i thought i couldn't do it with engine in.d'oh.

tubs can be changed in situ but its more work than just taking the engine out as its less hassle.
