can any body please tell me the easy way to get rid of a noisy tappet. it is only loud when the car is cold and after it has been run a few miles it goes, then if i park up for 10mins and start the car, its back again for a few miles.:headvswal

the product is by wins, and its just an oil treatment consantrate.sorry about spelling. its really thick like glue but it seems it has not damaged anything in the engine. but has got rid of the noise.

What oil grade are you using?

 

If your using a 10w40 then you could try a 5w40 or 5w50 as its thinner at startup and has more chance of giving the offending lifter a good soaking.

magnatec is only semi synthetic, try a fully syn 5w40 or 5w50 if the problem re occurs, mine used to sound a bit ticky on start up but ive been using 5w50 for about 4 years and the noise never returned, previously to that i used 10w60 castrol rs.
