Might sound a dumb question..

Can anyone tell me if a 'standard' bonnet on a zed is supposed to be metal or fiberglass/GRP/ Other/ please?

I meant top side, and underside skins.

HAHA yes, top skin and underneath strengtheners are aluminium.

 

The only steel bits are the threadded inserts where the hinges attach and the actual catch itself.

and take it from me the carbon fibre replicas are actually heavier!

 

Well to be quite honest I think they would be!

 

The Z bonnet is very very light as standard. It makes me wonder why the hell they did not make the wings, doors and boot lid out of aluminium. I reckon there is 100kg to be saved in just those parts alone. The doors and tailgate are just a joke, sooooooo heavy :cry:

 

Gosh, I'm sounding like Nelson here aren't I? ;) (ye olde members joke) ;)
