My housemate is looking for a new car at around £20k +/- a few k.

I am telling him to get the megane http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/megane230f1/

but he's keen on the new Pirrelli addition of the golf GTI http://aol.whatcar.com/News_Article.asp?NA_ID=232213&EL_ID=3241699&ST=fromcurrentresults

I think the Megane is the better car by far!

vw all the way, as good as the megane is its still just a piece of french crap compared to the golf, have you seen how well golf limited edition cars hold their value, do a search on the mk4 anniversary editions, they hold the price really well
