ok been out in the pouring rain checking connectors etc,

ran a diagnostic on the box and came up with:

3 - Throttle Sensor Circuit is Short Circuited or Disconnected.

4 - Shift Solenoid A is Short Circuited or Disconnected.

6 - Overrun Clutch Solenoid is Short Circuited or Disconnected.

7 - Lock up solenoid is Short Circuited or Disconnected.

10 - line pressure solenoid is Short Circuited or Disconnected.

this mean box is screwed ?

Featured Replies

Either screwed or not connected to anything.

It would look that way to me but I am no expert.

Does anyone have one you can borrow to test it. Would lend you mine but it is a manual.

hmmm...thats a lot of sensors to all go at once...I would suspect a fault with the Autobox wiring loom or the Autobox ECU itself.

  • Author

well this is the 2nd ECU for the auto box, but the ones listed above showed also when it was connected on ConZult. so that leave the wiring loom possibly as you said Legrath ?

Thanks guys for the response on this one :D might have to leave it till in the army then I can send it to a garage to be sorted :(

Do the fault codes clear, when were they last cleared. Codes can be generated in the past and may have been generated ages ago. Can you clear them and run the diag again to see what comes up or are these codes you listed there all the time?

I only had the car like 2 months now and this is the 1st time i ran the diagnostic, how do you clear them?

Just because the codes are in the system doesnt mean they are current, they might be years old. With regards clearing them I am not sure but am sure someone will post a link or something. I have the manual and will have a look for you.

What problem are you having with the box?

1st change is random on the rev counter so could be 3.5k or like today will change at 4.5k-5.5krpm and when driving in a normal 30 or 40mph limited road sounds like you screaming it lol and is very unsafe when going round bends.

Does it feel like the box is slipping in 1st gear or could it be a dodgy throttle position sensor setting throwing out the gearchanges. Difficult to diagnose without checking properly.

Cheers John

Error codes are stored for 50 starts. Remove the battery for a few hours then see what new codes appear

  • Author

thats very kind of you Andy am gonna let it sit without a battery from now till about 4/5pm. as finished nice and early today :D should I bother with the diag or just hook it to your conZult?

Try the diag first and then let me know after. I hope to be home by 7-ish tonight, so you can always give me a call later.

Ok left batter off for 4-5 hours to let all Ecu's reset and the only error's I get now are

6 - Overrun Clutch Solenoid is Short Circuited or Disconnected.

7 - Lock up solenoid is Short Circuited or Disconnected.

p.s. AndyP sorry deleted your PM with ya number :P and fell asleep.... lol

Is that after a drive?

  • Author

Yeah the diagnostic bit I printed out said to get engine upto temp. So I went and put some fuel in it and then sat outside my house and done the diag.

so you know this problem andyduff ?

That sounds like there is a problem either on the drivers side inner arch, on the loom as it passes the exhaust (exhaust burning the insulation off and therefore shorting out) or within the box itself. I know that sounds about as decisive as Gordon Brown but its the best I can do without seeing the car lol :)
